Seems to be the first major challenge faced by NaMo Government..We have Ajit Doval , our National Security Adviser to PM..He negotiated with the hijackers of the Indian Airlines flight in Kandahar...But in this case we do not know the whereabouts of the Indians kidnapped in Iraq ..Also no ransom money has been asked so far

Iraq crisis: 40 Indians kidnapped in Mosul, but who will the Government of India speak to? : World, News - India Today

Iraq is passing through a precarious period of non-governance. How ever our government has sent a former ambassador to Iraq, to try and secure the release of the workers, although the government did not know who their abductors were or where they were being held.

In the meanwhile,Indian Government has advised our nationals to consider returning to India and the Indian Embassy has set up a 24-hour helpline to offer assistance to those living there in this regard.

Let us hope for the best and pray peace will return to that Country.

The ISIS seems to be a deadly group..How have they got so much of power in the last few months..There was not even a rumor or hint about the impending crisis in Iraq...This attack by Sunnis in Iraq may blow into a full fledged conflagration between Sunnis & Shias in West Asia disturbing peace permanently

The ghastly group has sinister plans for India too as some of their jihadis are of Indian origin!

The brother of a Punjabi youth taken hostage in Iraq by Sunni insurgents says that youths from northern India were sold to agents in the strife-torn country for just $400.

Paramjit Singh, younger brother of Kamaljit Singh, a youth from Hoshiarpur who has been abducted by the insurgents, said scores of youths from the region could have been stranded or held hostage in Iraq.

Paramjit Singh, who returned from Iraq about eight months ago and could not succeed in going back, said conflicting reports about the whereabouts of the Indian hostages were causing concern to his family and families of other youths from Punjab who are still missing.

Kamaljit Singh and the others went missing from Mosul town June 11. "We spoke to him last on June 15. After that, there has been no communication from there. An official of the construction company called up last night to say the company was not able to do much in the present circumstances and it had no information on the abducted youth," Paramjit Singh told IANS here Friday.

His brother went to Iraq over 18 months ago. He was working with the Tehrak Noor Al Huda construction company there.

There is no news of the 40 Indian workers, captured near the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

The released foreigners are construction workers from Turkey, Nepal, Bangladesh, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, who were helping build a hospital in the now insurgent-held city of Tikrit.

Militants have seized many foreigners, including Indians and more than 40 Turks. India claimed on Thursday that the 40 Indian nationals abducted from the northern Iraq city of Mosul are “safe” and that it knew the location where they are being held captive.

Abducted Indians alive and safe, says Red Cresent

Even as the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the abducted Indians were safe, the families of those kidnapped have some more good news.

NDTV reported International Red Crescent as saying the hostages were 'alive and in good condition'.
While the worried families have pleaded the government to get their loved ones back home safely, the government too has repeatedly assured them that they are doing everything for the safety of Indians in Iraq.
