Two years back in his 'Mann ki Baat' radio programme, PM said that dealing with the Black Money was an 'article of faith' with him and no efforts woud be spared.

He is now on his commitment...

82 per cent Indians favour demonetisation: Survey

NEW DELHI: As many as 82 per cent Indians favour the government's decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination currency notes, a survey has said.

According to the survey by Inshorts in collaboration with IPSOS, 84 per cent of the respondents think the government is serious about curbing black money, while 52 per cent disagree with the decision to cap ATM withdrawls to a maximum of Rs 2,000 (since increased to Rs 2,500) daily.

Inshorts is India's highest-rated news app while IPSOS is a global market and opinion research specialists.

The 'Pulse of the Nation' survey was conducted on November 8 and 9, soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced scrapping of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.

"The survey clearly shows that majority of respondents hailed the demonetisation. The government's strategic clampdown on black money and tax evasion has surely gone well with the young and urban India," said Amit Adarkar, CEO of IPSOS India.

82 per cent of the respondents are not necessarily all Indians.
Statistics have proved wrong the surveys.
Do we know how the responders were selected?
No one is against demonetization. The process and implementation could have been done better.

A small mark of indelible ink, used mostly during elections to prevent multiple voting, will be put on the right hand finger of those exchanging banned 500 and 1,000 rupee notes for new ones from Wednesday to prevent crowding at banks by repeat exchangers.

Facetiously Speaking.
I am sure more than 80% of people would not mind an intrusive government for some minor inconvenience and no corruption.

Everybody should have a CHIP installed with their Adhar number installed under the skin on their hand. That way government can track every activity. There will be no corruption and no Terrorism either. All illegals (Pakistanis) can be caught.

Tim Shank's dogs have implanted GPS chips in case they get lost. Now, he has a chip of his own. "This is an NFC chip, so it's similar to what phones have nowadays," he told CBS News of the chip inside him.

Prasad Ji,

How is that both yourself as well as the Delhiwalah come with empty statements. ? May be it is your M.O...!

Can you say that all the statistics proved always wrong…..I mean always….?

Do you think that there may be errors?

If so what type..?

I can appreciate if you be more specific….?

Is it its reliability or validity or……...???

In fact it may be a tip of the ice berg.

It is a war .. a surgical war ..against hoarders Black Money

Such surgical strikes cannot be done with prior intimation or by giving advance notice.

It is very easy to comment by any layman from outside…

For your information, the temporary inconveniences experienced by the general public are being addressed seriously and are being resolved one by one.

I can say that it is worth the trouble…

I have this news item to share… which was dated: 9[SUP]th[/SUP] November published in Hindustan Times

10-day survey ahead of PM’s move shows majority favoured currency withdrawal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “surgical strike” on black money might inconvenience people for some time, but he seems to have their support.

Nearly 80% of people had backed a move to replace Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes to deal a blow to the black economy and corruption, a citizen engagement platform said on Wednesday.

The survey by LocalCircles was conducted over the last 10 days and was due for release. But the PM beat them to it.
On Tuesday evening, Modi declared in a special address to the people that the currency notes of these two denominations were being put out of circulation to break the grip of corruption, black money and terror funding.
…….
…….

In his address on Tuesday, Modi had acknowledged that the decision would inconvenience people in the short run but asked them to bear with the pain for the larger good. Just a day earlier, the PM had extensively spoken how people would not mind a bit of an inconvenience if they were assured that it really was in public interest.

Dear Prasad Sir,

The news in the link you gave says, ''
The online company Dangerous Things sells the device and an injection kit for $57,

but the implants aren't being done in a doctor's office. Instead,
tattoo and piercing shops in several parts of the country

are performing the procedure.''

And, '' There's always a risk for infection if the procedure isn't done properly. On its site, Dangerous Things warns customers:

"This device has not been tested or certified by any regulatory agency for implementation or use inside the human body. Use

of this device is strictly at your own risk."

Do you think India is so RICH to do such a feat of installing chips under the skin of all who live in India?? :D

Let us get to reaity.....

While people all over the country sounding hue and cry against demonetisation, here is a family spending several crores of money for the wedding…. !!

India is so rich indeed……!!

Cash King: Karnataka billionaire builds model palace for daughter's 500-crore wedding

janardhan_redding%20wedding2.jpg

Mining baron Janardhana Reddy has recreated the Vijayanagara empire at Palace Grounds in Bengaluru.

If there’s one family in the country that hasn’t been crippled by a cash crunch following the demonetisation announcement, then it has to be the Gali Janardhana Reddy family.

The mining baron and former Karnataka minister, who is an accused in several money laundering and illegal mining cases, has spared no expense, effort or imagination to host the biggest, fattest wedding that Bengaluru has ever witnessed for his daughter, Brahmini.

So, while thousands of Bengalureans are waiting in line across banks in the city, hundreds unable to afford a meal, Janardhana Reddy is reportedly spending a whopping 500 crore rupees on his daughter’s wedding.

123,63,44,631X $ 57 will be the cost of the chips to be installed!

This does NOT add the installation charges by the doctors.
P.S: 123,63,44,631 is the Indian population! :faint:

Where is the MONEY???

Rajiji,
Facetiously Speaking. Means it is a joke. No cost analysis needed.

No problem Baluji will finance it. He can find the money, and he also can justify it as required for tracking criminals (and ordinary folks)

<strong>

It is available for $8.00 from Amazon. Instead of allocating unique number we can write Adhar Card number on the microchip. Police, Bank and other officials can carry a chip reader.

Or we can make it cheaper by Tattooing it on the body.

This is a horrible fantasy, but may be fancied by a police state. Or by a government and people paranoid by criminals.
Please Please see the humor in the suggestion, but it will happen.

Baluji,
Please do not attack the person. (that should be doubly true for you).

"Lies, damned lies, and statistics" is a phrase describing the persuasive power of numbers, particularly the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments. It is also sometimes colloquially used to doubt statistics used to prove an opponent's point.

[h=3]Lies, damned lies, and statistics - Wikipedia[/h]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lies,_damned_lies,_and_statistics

Secondly USA just had an Election and all opinion polls were wrong.
One likely culprit is what pollsters refer to as nonresponse bias. This occurs when certain kinds of people systematically do not respond to surveys despite equal opportunity outreach to all parts of the electorate. We know that some groups – including the less educated voters who were a key demographic for Trump on Election Day – are consistently hard for pollsters to reach. It is possible that the frustration and anti-institutional feelings that drove the Trump campaign may also have aligned with an unwillingness to respond to polls. The result would be a strongly pro-Trump segment of the population that simply did not show up in the polls in proportion to their actual share of the population.

If you start with wrong assumption you can find coincidences to support your claim, but that does not the truth.

Baluji,
Please do not attack the person. (that should be doubly true for you).

Prasad Ji,

It is not a question of attacking. It is just a question of arguing.

If you argue that statistics is a lie then why there is a Department of statistics at Secretariat at Delhi.

In fact statistics is a subject taught in Commerce. It is being taught in almost all Indian Universities. It is in the syllabus.

You mean to say that they are teaching lies. And we are paying to learn lies. LOL

You don’t seems to accept any statement/argument/comment/opinion, etc which contradicts yours

Just go through this article to start with, which is self-explanatory:

Importance of Statistics in different fields.

Statistics plays a vital role in every fields of human activity. Statistics has important role in determining the existing position of per capita income, unemployment, population growth rate, housing, schooling medical facilities etc…in a country. Now statistics holds a central position in almost every field like Industry, Commerce, Trade, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Biology, Botany, Psychology, Astronomy etc…, so application of statistics is very wide. Now we discuss some important fields in which statistics is commonly applied.

Secondly why statics is important:

Why Statistics Is Important

By Jim Frost

“There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.”

I’m sure you’ve heard this most infuriating expression, which was popularized by Mark Twain. I’ve had enough of this expression, and here’s the rebuttal! In fact, I’ll make the case that statistics is not the problem, but the solution!

Mistakes Can Happen

First, let’s stipulate that an unscrupulous person can intentionally manipulate the results to favor unwarranted conclusions. Further, honest analysts can make honest mistakes because statistics can be tricky.

However, that does not mean that the field of statistics is to blame!

An analogy is in order here. If a surgeon does not follow best practices, we don’t blame the entire field of medicine. In fact, we call on medical experts to understand what went wrong and to fix it. The same is true with statistics. If an analyst presents unreliable conclusions, no one is better qualified than a statistician to identify the problem and fix it!

So, what is the field of statistics, and why is it so important?

Read more at: http://www.worldofstatistics.org/2013/03/04/why-statistics-is-important/

And you are free to discuss about CHIPs, cost, charges, etc and pass on humorous suggestion to the other member (who is well known to derail any thread) wherein I have absolutely no interest.

Go ahead. LOL

Statistics are persuasive. So much so that people, organizations, and whole countries base some of their most important decisions on organized data. But any set of statistics might have something lurking inside it that can turn the results completely upside down. Mark Liddell investigates Simpson’s paradox.

Baluji, By the way I went to University of London for post-grad. I studied Statistics.

[h=1]85% of Statistics are False or Misleading[/h]

Numbers don’t lie, but they tell a lot of half-truths. We have been raised to think that numbers represent absolute fact, that in a math class there is one and only one correct answer. But less emphasis is put on the fact that in the real world numbers don’t convey any information without units, or some other frame of reference. The blurring of the line between the number and the quantity has left us vulnerable to the ways in which statistics can deceive us. By poorly defining or incorrectly defining numbers, contemporary audiences can be manipulated into thinking opinions are fact.
Charles Seife’s forthcoming book Proofiness: The Dark Arts of Mathematical Deception lays bare, in remarkable clarity, the many trappings of trusting numbers a bit too much.

Prasad Ji,

I am not here to brag unlike others...

I also studied Statistics subject...

And for me statistics is a science:
Statistics is the science of learning from data, and of measuring, controlling, and communicating uncertainty; and it thereby provides the navigation essential for controlling the course of scientific and societal advances. This field will become ever more critical as academia, businesses, and governments rely increasingly on data-driven decisions, expanding the demand for statistics expertise. (Source: http://science.sciencemag.org/content/336/6077/12)

And what that matters most is application of this science successfully in real life.

And I go for these:

10 Everyday Reasons Why Statistics Are Important

Statistics are sets of mathematical equations that are used to analyze what is happening in the world around us. You've heard that today we live in the Information Age where we understand a great deal about the world around us. Much of this information was determined mathematically by using statistics. When used correctly, statistics tell us any trends in what happened in the past and can be useful in predicting what may happen in the future.
Let's look at some examples of how statistics shape your life when you don't even know it.

1. Weather Forecasts

Do you watch the weather forecast sometime during the day? How do you use that information? Have you ever heard the forecaster talk about weather models? These computer models are built using statistics that compare prior weather conditions with current weather to predict future weather.

2. Emergency Preparedness

What happens if the forecast indicates that a hurricane is imminent or that tornadoes are likely to occur? Emergency management agencies move into high gear to be ready to rescue people. Emergency teams rely on statistics to tell them when danger may occur.

3. Predicting Disease

Lots of times on the news reports, statistics about a disease are reported. If the reporter simply reports the number of people who either have the disease or who have died from it, it's an interesting fact but it might not mean much to your life. But when statistics become involved, you have a better idea of how that disease may affect you.
For example, studies have shown that 85 to 95 percent of lung cancers are smoking related. The statistic should tell you that almost all lung cancers are related to smoking and that if you want to have a good chance of avoiding lung cancer, you shouldn't smoke.

4. Medical Studies
