Reading at old age, helps a person to have a good frame of mind besides learning to spend the time usefully without involving in local / family politics and giving / inviting trouble to / from ...others.
It is a good way of time management also.

It is a fact that senior citizens, every where over the world gets neglected and never commands the attention they demand from their family circles. Such activities to keep them selves busy are definitely a great idea. But how many afford to do it?

If there is a will there is a way....for everybody.
I did my PhD only after crossing the age of sixty.

Thank you all ......Vgane ji, Ganesh65 ji & Lalith ji.

In my personal opinion, all people above the age of 60 (for some it is above 70) are generally concerned about their body, health coupled with death fear.

Some specified activity like reading, writing (or any other activity including religious) for that purpose with some specified set goal …….would ensure them extended longevity with good health.

Agree. will power of certain people are beyond any comparison. I still remember one Mr. Lamba used to learn Astrlogy with me in Bharatiya Vidhya Bhawan, Delhi He was 76+ then and still he never missed any class (the classes were held during Saturdays and Sundays) More interesting factor is he used to travel all the way from Sonepat, Haryana(around 6o KMs away), and used to travel only through Haryana Road ways bus.
