we often hear about them in the papers. but when one of our friends report a case like this..it is indeed heart warming. so here it is folks...i guess it could happen to anyone here in this forum too.

Dear friends,
I moved into this apartment complex RMV Clusters (at Bangalore) in 1997. We had a guy with a small shop opposite our complex, ironing the clothes for the residents of our apartment complex.

As he was very hard-working & sincere I gave him a space years ago inside our complex to service the apartment dwellers. He continued with his shop outside as well and made ends meet with his wife extending him a helping hand in his work. Another person from the neighbouring apartment complex foot his son's bill for studies.

The son is today on the verge of completing his BE (E&C). He has been excellent in his studies right from the start - with marks in 90's. His sister is also intelligent & hard-working and is now in II PU (Science & Electronics), scoring more marks than him. She also plans to do BE(E&C).

The boy has already got three job offers - approx Rs.3.50 Lacs per annum - Mindtree, Accenture and Hughes. The first two are programming jobs and the last one is in embedded systems.

But his interest lies in "Core Engineering" jobs.

It will be nice if any of you can get him an interview in an Electronics/Telecom company. Just an interview opportunity, no need to get him a job. He has done well and he wants to get a job of his liking by his own efforts.

It will be a good turn for a deserving guy!

I will be grateful for this help.

Regards

dear kunjuppuji

what you do not see is core engg jobs are very scarce . manufacturing companies are in doldrums.

I do not want to sound discouraging.

both my children with a manufacturing degree from guindy engg college were forced to shift -one

to IT and other to management consultancy to make a decent living.

I do not know if modis call to make in india will change anything on the ground

thanks krish.

this was a note from my friend in bangalore. hopefully this lad gets something he wants. atleast with the offers outstanding, he will be able to help his sister study and his parents from the daily grind of ironing clothes, if they so wish.

hi

it is a good idea that take the job in hand..help parents and sister initially...after some experiences in present IT job...then slowly

move to CORE ENGG JOB....becoz now days any job in handy is better than a CHOICE JOB....i may be wrong?....i have a friend...

who did MECHANICAL DEGREE FROM IIT CHENNAI....now doing research in neurolagical science in USA from a world famous university....

tbs,

i think, in india, engineering is considered a basic decent saleable degree. there is no concept or faith in BA or BSc anymore. BComm too acceptable as an entry point to CA or such. but overall engineering is the foundation degree for most folks. i think.

It is nice to see that a poor and hard working man is taken care of well with a human touch. It will be equally nice if we identify such poor people from Shastrigal Community to help their wards to achieve big.

Not correct. Above average boys and girls from all disciplines - economics, literature, social sciences, pure sciences branch out into communication, finance, banking, management, journalism, logistics and many more.

Both indian and multi national companies do compass interviews in all disciplines, engineering included.

thank you. very good and heartening to know that. there is literally zillions of opportunities in these subjects. my main interest as a teenager was economics and statistics. but having got into iit, i could convince no one, for me to go to BA (Econ), which at that time was the asylum of last resort for those rejected to anything else including sciences. something i regret to this day.

In BPO/KPO field non Engineers are preferred...Enginners are mostly in IT..Manufacturing is in doldrums now..Will pick up soon..I was in manufacturing for 20+ years and then moved into IT

Suggest that this person takes up what he has got instead of indefinitely waiting
