An intersting story of this Song 'Puththam Puthu Kaalai' composed by the Isai Gnani Ilayaraja...:

Originally this song was for the film Maruthani which was made in 1979/80 by Mahendran.. but not filmed & used..in the film..

Then in 1980 Bharathiraja wanted this song for his film Alaikal Oivathillai....Pity it was not filmed atall..

Then finally in 2014 this was used in the film Megha ...

So for nearly 34 years a song was running round & round.. The beauty of this song was..it was a super hit audio song and was in much demand in any of the concert by Ilayaraja...

Just listen this song keeping your eyes closed ..I promise you will be mesmerized..

A comment from one my friend :

Each time I listen this is song.. I get completely floored down with tears in my eyes!! What a masterpiece! This proves how much powerful music is.. And Ilayaraja is quite different from other composers, while others can just give you a pleasant feel, Ilayaraja's music is a medicine.. It travels deep into your heart, stimulates your emotions and leaves you full of tears.. If anyone would dislike this, he would not be human.

Some of you may think why I should write so much about a song.. yes.I listened it for more than 50 times..in the past 5 days..As my friend said ..yes ..I was floored..

Dear TBS garu,

I have never cried while watching an Indian movie cos I feel even the sad scenes are over dramatized.

I cried like hell for only one movie so far..it was Edward Scissorhands played by Johnny Depp.

Edward Scissorhands is a 1990 American romantic dark fantasy film directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp. The film shows the story of an artificial man named Edward, an unfinished creation who has scissors for hands. Edward is taken in by a suburban family and falls in love with their teenage daughter Kim

The portrayal of a forbidden love between a person who is not even truly human and who has scissors as his hands and a young girl and how they were never meant to be together was just too moving.

It was intense yet not over dramatized..subtle yet strong enough to make you cry.

Johnny Depp is one of the best actors in the world I feel.

He can play any role from quirky one..comedies ..horror..right up to serious roles...not to mention his unique good looks becos of an exotic mixed heritage having Irish,German,Cherokee Native American,African American blood(Rosa Parks the African American Civil Rights Activist was his ancestor).

Coming back to the topic of Illaiyaraja songs....I have 2 favorite songs by him...

1st is Nilla Adhu Vanathu Melai..sung by Illaiyaraja,

2nd is from the movie Thai Moogambikai where in the song Adi Shankara is depicted singing Janani Janani and this song is sung by Illaiyaraja himself.

Some of the scenes in movies like ‘Ben her' , ‘Bridge on the River Kwai’ , etc do have their own impact on audience.

I would like to share an incident. Few years back while I was attending an Hypnotism class at a Hotel in Chennai, one of the speakers narrated the following incident which has actually happened.

That was a winter season and the movie ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ was screened in a famous theatre, it was an evening show and at outside there was heavy downpour.

And sensing the climatic change, the cafeteria owner, anticipating unusual demand for hot flavoured espresso coffee by the audience, was all set ready to cater.

But what happened was, when the exit was opened for intermission, the crowd rushed to the cool drinks section and most of them were seen taking cool drinks especially while it was heavily raining outside. What made them to take the cool drinks in a comparatively cool climatic condition was a surprising thing for the vendor.

Then he realized that at the time of intermission the audiences have just came out viewing the scene of Omar Sharif - desert sand - hot sun.

This scene of a long desert with sand all over under hot sun - seems to had its emotional impact on the viewers.
