I guess my Tamil must be improving..If I am not wrong the above means:

If a Daughter opts for a nuclear family..she is smart.

But if a Daughter In Law opts for a nuclear family..she is heartless.

As long as the Nuclear family remains just that and does not become a Nuclear Bomb.

OMG!! The word 'bomb' reminds me of a very funny adage in our village.

ALukkAran - - - - - - - nA adidA, pididA;

esamAnan
- - - - - - - nA Govinda, Govinda! ;)

This kind of evaluation is ALWAYS true when it involves property -- always the mother of the daughter wants her daughter to "win" the son-in-law's family property all for her own daughter, whereas if it comes to son and daughter-in-law, there is a 'fear' if the daughter-in-law would 'win over' properties owned by the family!

Among marathas, the daughter in law is given her share of the husband's property soon after marriage. For the question, what happens when the couple separate, stock answer is - has not happened till now.
