Amid Pakistan row, India considers proposal to manufacture F-16 fighter jets under 'Make in India'

NEW DELHI: Even as controversy has erupted on the transfer of eight F 16s to Pakistan by the US, Delhi has been considering a proposal to manufacture the fighter jets under the 'Make in India' initiative.

the decision to make F-16 in India is a welcome one.

But people still remember that after Modi’s visit to US, BJP had made a lot of hues and cries and tried to create an impression locally in India that Modi has won the heart of US Govt. and particularly Obama!!
It was propagated that no other PM else before, had this much of impact in US.
BJP needs some political maturity.

If India makes F-16, and the quality is as good as original, and can produce it in 10 years it is obsolete by then. Then let us say Made-in-India F-16 cost 4 times the price in international market have we achieved anything?
Hal has shown that it can not produce world class planes at world class efficiency.

Experts in the field know that there are enough scope for improvement, upgradation, etc in the product’s capability to fight.

This model which was introduced in 1976 stillrules the world only because of its improved versions.

From F-16B now we have F-16V denoting upgradation.

India is a '
peace loving' country.

May be such mesures are to convey the message that we are '
self-reliant' in the field of defence.

India is having technical human resources and capable of making combat aircrafts of latest versions.

One US company (GE ) has got two "patterns" registered in its name in the area of "air craft engine design".
The discovery came out of a successful project made in its Banagalore wing of "Air craft Engine Design" and the discovery was made by a TB - M Tech -- Chennai IITian.

It shows that even for discoveries made in India by Indians, US took the credit.

Yesmohan Ji,

You are right.

There are lot of unsung heroes among us.

And equally active doomsayers and naysayers are also ........
