India’s first commercial amphibious vehicle will be launched at Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad by end of this year.
A 16-seater vehicle will be driven straight from land to water. It has been purchased from Shangyu Bonai Motor Boat Manufacturing Co Ltd in Zhejiang province of China at a cost of over Rs. 50 lakh. Parking facility and ramp on lower promenade of river front will be required to operate this vehicle.
The vehicle will have speed of 20 to 25 knots per hour. It may cost Rs. 250 for 15 to 20 minutes long ride. City based firm Amrapali will operate it.
