This is NOT a solicitation for business. But information spread of a great idea. Can be duplicated without the participants mentioned below.

Introducing Lakshmi & Ramani of Chennai, budding entrepreneurs. A few years ago, Lakshmi, an housewife, thought a great way to spend her spare time, and do something good for her family. Like all middle class, she is challenged by the ever increasing costs of fruits and vegetables, and also concerned about the increasing proliferation of chemicals of a dubious nature, passing off as fertilizers.

She tried on her own terrace first - orange coloured pots, filled with rich natural organic soils to suit the particular plant and with tender care, watering, and weeding - reward Lakshmi's green thumb with ample supply of vegetables, enough to feed her own family, and plenty left over to gift relatives and friends.

Here is a write up on them on Facebook....

Spent a refreshing morning with Ramani and Lakshmi visiting their Garden projects.

After all the good write-ups they have been receiving, their phones have not stopped ringing. Blessed with a green thumb Lakshmi now has a full order book..so full that she can pick and choose!

Top requests are for terrace vegetable gardens, followed by flower gardens, redoing existing patches etc.

This morning, deep inside Mint street, the part of Old Madras and a bastion of Jains, amidst narrow alleys and chaos, a vegetable garden was setup this morning by Ramani - all in three hours.

Lakshmi and Ramani have brought method and speed to the Art of the Garden.

The saplings, Plant Bags, peat, organic boosters, organic pest removers, spray gun, some help and a willing spirit - Ramani says you need only these to have fresh veggies each day.

Lakshmi swears by Organic.

And it pays.

This morning a Lemon, Papaya (these will grow into trees) and 35 other veggies were readied in Plant bags. The total area used on terrace - 300 square feet, expected yield - about 1.5 to 2 Kilos of garden fresh organic veggies every day.

The experience was a great stress buster and a learning experience.

While at Mylapore, at the home of a leading advocate, Lakshmi was giving a dead patch of garden a full makeover. This was going to be a flower garden - full of Hibiscus and Rose in many colors, patterns and hues.

Their average day is busy with procurement of the right saplings, inputs, site visits, quotes, deliveries and creation of gardens. Incidentally, the Till is ringing all the time !!! But it is back breaking work. Believe me.

If you want to install a terrace garden or spread the good word - these are the numbers - Lakshmi +91 9444412111 and Ramani +91 9840120301
