My father migrated from a village Virkudi in Tanjore District. We do not have anyone living from my fathers side with connection to Virkudi. I would like to hear from someone of that village.

Since when did this village come to be known as Virkudi?

Was it called Virakudi earlier?

There is an old Shiva temple in Virkudi - can someone from that village tell which inscriptions are the oldest found there? Cholas?

Which castes made up the village earlier ? I mean, since when was it mentioned as a brahmadeyam?

If Vir(a)kudi is in Tanjore District, is it anywhere close to Mayavaram (Peralam, or Kiranur?) I remember my grand parents lived in Kiranur, about 8 miles from Mayavaram and I used to go there some summers. Great little village, and there is this Sheerambal temple.
