Namaskarams to all,

I want to know why we are not supposed to touch other clothes, restrict food choices, or sleep on the floor during a savu theetu. Though we have elders guiding us in the dos & don'ts, a valid reason for following the tradition is not shared. I am ok with following the theetu sampradhayam, but I should also be able to explain the significance of practicing the same to my kids.

If for xyz reason, we are unable to follow the afore mentioned sampradhayams like, we have to go to work, hence we have to take fresh clothes from the wardrobe, we need to cook food and can't order for 3 days in a row from a restaurant 3 times daily. At the end of a long night shift, we crash onto a bed and cannot sleep on the floor.

Looking for an explanation on those points which are significant in savu theetu 🙏.
