Camera cell phones have become a big nuisance now days. People have lost their heads and forgot little bit of humanity left with them. They are only interested in capturing any thing and every thing with their cell cameras and post them in Whatsapp and Facebook etc. I think people have become sort of a manic for selfies.

Yesterday I witnessed an accident where two men on bike hit each other in a crossing. There were around 50 people around but only one or two came for help. Hearing the loud noise two three young men rushed to the spot, a man with a normal prudence will them that they went there to help the victims and if you are also one of them you are highly mistaken. These men reached the spot took their smart phones and started taking SELFIES!! Finally we had to call the Police to help the profusely bleeding victims to the near by hospital for treatment.

Today's Dinakaran gave me further shock. A news clipping of suicide by a Nurse near Vridhachalam, Chennai was there. This poor girl was also victim of one side love affair. A scoundrel has molested her in broad day light a day back in front of numerous people, but no one came for help. Instead there were lot of men capturing her molestation in video with their mobile camera. This girl seems to have brutally molested and that incidence led her to end her life.

Let me ask one question, is humanity dead? are we only there in public to capture things on mobile camera? Is it time to call for a ban on Camera phones, so that people could be brought back to their senses? I strongly call for a ban on Camera phones... how about you?.

I agree with you, Athimber Sir.

The society is rotting by the new inventions and the 'sharing' mania!

Athimber Ji,

I also agree that such practice should be banned. But is it possible?

But in practice, in market, every day new model of mobile is coming up with unique features and there is a tough competition among the brands and public are lured to such facilities.

Of course, there is section a which misuses such facility.

Do we need an act for everything....?

What has happened to our self discipline?

How can a ban introduced. Is it by an act?

Will the enforcing agency is allowed to have free hand to do their job?

There is already a ban on riding two wheeler without healmet. I don't think most of the riders adhere the rules.

There is a ban on using mobile phone while riding/driving and I don't think most adhere to this.

Similarly, seat belts by the Drivers.

On security point of view, the enforcement agencies use to install 'jammers' as a measure to protect the VIP/VVIPs who are facing threat, at vulnerable points, as provision of such facility will disable a mobile, I mean they won’t get signal.

Just go through this article........ which relates to the topic

Apple Awarded Patent for Disabling iPhone Cameras to Ban Photography

Apple has been awarded a US patent for a system that could disable iPhone cameras with infrared signals, allowing photography to be remotely banned in locations such as concerts and sensitive sites.

The concept first caused controversy when the patent application surfaced back in 2011, with many people worried that the technology could prevent freedom of speech and freedom of the press.

If you love going to concerts and hate the fact that you’re often standing in a sea of iPhone cameras being held up by other concertgoers, you might also love the system described in this patent that Apple now owns.

Future cameras could be designed to detect special infrared signals and respond in certain ways. One special signal could be used to disable the iPhones camera, preventing both still photography and video recording.

திருடனாய் பார்த்து திருந்தாவிட்டால் திருட்டை ஒழிக்க முடியாது

The change should come from every individual who use such phones.

We will discuss…..

We will discuss…..

Of course, Bala Sir. This is one of the best topics to be discussed. These "selfie nuts" are quite a nuisance these days. Couple of days back, I had to take part in funeral of my friend's brother. There I so people clicking selfies with the dead body causing unwanted inconvenience to the family of the bereaved.

I think we have a good reason to raise this issue, as recently one of our MP was caught capturing high security enclosures of our Parliament with his cell phone. That way it pose a security threat as well. I think if we discuss this well in this forum some sort of conclusion will arise with which a case can be presented to the authorities to look into..

i have a different take on this subject.
You can not ban technology. It will hurt the very people you trying to save. The phone camera has exonerated people frpm wrongful convictions. The camera has solved crimes, and terrorist acts.
You may teach manners and enforce discipline. In temples camera's are banned, and it works. Similarly in the funerals here it is not permitted to take pictures.
In USA if ou run a red light, or other foolish acts, there is a good chance that you will be penalized, so people do not do it.
you can not stop a fool from foolish acts.

Let us stick to the topic and don't compare the laws of countries here. And U.S. has number of States each following different laws.

For instance, here is an article which discusses in details about few laws in force at U.S.A. and I don't now how for it is true.

The 22 most ridiculous US laws still in effect today. #10 is just crazy… LOL!

It’s illegal to attend a public event or use public transport within 4 hours of eating an onions orgarlic (Indiana)

so i agreed nuisanaces more dangerous...

VBji,
You misunderstand my post.
My post was very much pertinent to the thread.
My comment that you quoted was taken out of context.
My point was that laws are enforced comparatively better in USA.

Pointing out irreverent laws in US does not belong to this tread.

People rush to take photos, selfies every where , just because one has the Phone/ camera readily. Instead of talking about Ban ( next to impossible, as people have no power ) we can only appeal repeatedly. I feel in the situations mentioned in the Topic, the Police only can get it done, because if the Crime Area is cordoned off & except authorities concerned none should be, allowed ever near.
Even if police places a standard Board in all such situations---at the site Mentioning that " those come forward to give evidence/ give their Ph nos for contact/ help to the victim --- then All will escape / One thing I want to stress is this We , majority have no EERAM in our mind for others/ strangers, & no real Akkarai ? Only Pass-time / gossip This is Kaliyug & one can forget about Human approach , let alone offering real help;. The Attitude is uniform/ do not take it to heart. ? But all the more, you/ yourself do not lost Human Spirit do what little you can , if you happen to be in such scenario, for your mental satisfaction.Pray to Almighty / then & there honestly/ sincerely. That is ALL.

Okay, ban may be technically not possible, at least some restrictions can always be imposed. Matter of concern is people's insensitivity towards people in trouble. Instead of helping them out, they are busy in taking photographs/videos/selfies. You are not going to gain any thing by earning a couple of likes in a social site by posting these photographs. Agreed, it may possibly become handy in case certain investigation is to be conducted at a later stage, but at what cost? Main thing is to help out the victims, whose life you could have saved by showing a little commitment. This is what we need to teach people. This is the awareness we want spread. And this should be the only message we would like to spread through social sites.

Ganesh Ji,

I think instead of discussing about imposing restrictions on using Camera in Mobile Phone, it is better we discuss about helping the victim.

Just for a while think what if we were the victim, then swing into action by providing all possible assistance to help the victim. It is just a matter of empathy. It is really a thrilling experience.

I would like to share a personal experience of mine here:

Way back in 1992 I believe, I had been to meet a friend of mine who was running a Real Estate Office at T. Nagar, opposite to Krishnaveni Theatre, South Usman Road. His Office was located at the second floor. The time was be somewhere between 6-6.30 pm, I had been there after finishing my Office duties.

When I was discussing with my friend, suddenly there was a thunderous noise, something like rolling down a Bureau sending chills down our spine. The decibel level of the noise was like striking of a thunder somewhere near.

Surprisingly, there was no rain, lightening etc at that time. While we were all confused over the origin of this terrible sound, we heard few tenants at the ground floor crying in loud voice. When I looked down, they were pointing out inside their home. I rushed down and went inside to see only two eyes blinking at me. Blood was oozing out and bones were peeping out and there was a man with flesh torn all over. I was not able to make any out of the figure as everything was black. I moved bit closure and found him none else than one of the neighbouring tenant of the second floor. I don’t remember his name he was an Ex-service man with well-built physic.

I was able to sense from the way he was laying in the pool of blood, that he has fallen down from upstairs and has come down through breaking the chimney like thing which was built as an outlet to kitchen smoke.

With the help of other friends and tenants, we were able to fetch an Auto and took him to Hospital.

But when I directed the Auto fellow to go the nearest hospital, the victim refused and wanted me to admit him in G.H which was few kilometres away.

Blood was oozing out from all over his body as he has fallen down breaking the glass panel which was kept as an outer cover at the open terrace.

I sent word to the emergency ward and by the time, I reached the hospital, duty Doctors were all ready and took him inside for treatment. His body was full the glass pieces and they were found busy in removing the glass pieces for nearly half an hour. I stayed their until arrival of his wife and children and then left for my home and only then I came know that he is a staff of Govt. General Hospital. They took good care of him.

I do visited him twice and later few months back I saw him walking with support and after some time he was back to normal.

When I asked him about the cause of accident, I was told that (In those days, there will be aluminium antenna installed at the terrace for TVs and when one see dancing waves in the screen, the practice is to go upstairs and set right the position of the antenna) he has gone up to set right the antenna and in the process, seems to have jumped over the covered portion of the chimney under the impression that it was a concrete slab. But since it was a glass one, it gave way and he fell through the floors and landed in the ground floor with all the damages.

As for as I am concerned, I used to think that help rendered to others is something like service rendered to God.

Dear V. Bala,
Irrespective of anybody else rise up to the occasion to help the needy, we , should spontaneously extend our help with all the heart & ensure full/ satisfactory help & receive one-to one recognition & ensure human approach which would give mental satisfaction & feel inwardly happy.
Any small, but timely / on the spot help will be remembered by the other person, because others, invariably avoid such chances.

dear Bala, What you have done , should have given an elated feeling. That is how ,one gains the Blessings of God.
Means that you have the inclination to spontaneouly / voluntarily extend all-out help. Keep it up.
