I went to the Koyambedu Shelter home with my mother and sister, which is housing about 27 girl children aging from 3 years to 11 years. There were some 10 to 12 elderly women staying there. It is maintained by Ms.Sunitha of "Padhai" All the little girls have no relatives but they call each other as akka, thangai. They look after each other. I saw the elder girls feeding the younger ones. They were all so sweet and welcomed us with flowers.
They took me around the place where they keep their books and clothes and also showed me the kitchen. They were proud to show me the steel cup-board where they keep "very good clothes". Simple kids with big smile and so much eager to learn and go out in the world . I could not spend a lot of time with them but stayed there for about an hour and half only. They said thanks with so much sincerity i cried . Praying God to give me strength to do more to them.
Also went to another Destitute girl children's place in Alwar Thirunagar which is also maintained by "Padhai" Sunitha. There were 26 girls aging from 3years to 21years. spoke to each and everyone. One of them even made tea for us. everyone is having big dreams. one girl who was a destitute before, now after education is working there as assistant to Ms.Sunitha is doing degree by correspondence.
We were really touched by their love for each other. took plenty of old clothes in good condition and some food which they ate with relish. I came home with a heavy heart. We have so much: a good home, loving parents, brothers and sisters, good education at best institutions, Hoping and praying that all these little children also get everything which is possible with Almighty's grace. That was a different kind of experience for me.
