The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday observed its 36th Foundation Day at the central office here without its key founding members L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi. The function had BJP President Amit Shah honouring another founding member V.K. Malhotra but Mr. Advani and Mr. Joshi were conspicuous by their absence.
Earlier, the party would issue a circular about the function and senior leaders would be personally invited on phone. But this time no such niceties were shown. “Advaniji has never missed the 6th April Foundation Day function at the BJP central office. Today was the first time he was absent,’’ a veteran BJP leader told The Hindu.
For a party that takes pride in traditional values, the absence of its senior leaders at the “sthapana diwas’’ has raised eyebrows. At the recently-concluded BJP national executive in Bengaluru, too, Mr. Advani did not deliver the valedictory address as he had been traditionally doing.

After the blasting statement by senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani over 1975 emergency’s repeat, its seems that the party trying to avoid Advani. 25 June, the anniversary of 1975 emergency. A programme organised by BJP for it. But no invitation to L K Advani to attend the programme. What it Indicates ?

It indicates that Advani , Murali Manohar Joshi instead of planning another rath Yatra ( like the ones they did in the 90s ) they must now prepare for Char Dham Yatra and quietly spend their retirement time visiting various pilgrim places .

Advani lost his eminent position in the party when he claimed jinna is secular. He did not attend the goa meet in which modi was declared as the PM candidate, sulked and wrote an ambiguous blog. He often makes statements which are twisted by the media, but he does not counter media mischief. In his recent interview on emergency, his statements 'occurrence of emergency cannot be ruled out' and 'all power rested in one' were flashed in media as referring to modi, but advani's statement that he was referring to indira gandhi's emergency was conveniently buried by the honest media. Even as 'president' he is dangerous because the media will not respect the office of the president, misquote him and use his pauses to revile him.

He had a good innings, must now retire gracefully.

We need a scholar like Professor Dr Radha Krishnan as President.....Should be from Southern India and a well respected person to work in unison with the PM...It is still 2 years...But search can begin now

One like Kalam, who is not a politician, who will not submit to pressure, take right decisions (no sonia for pm) and is not after a second term. Must not keep decisions pending and accept/reject laws sent to him for his signature.

Even in home, the elders if they become octogenarian or even earlier will be sidelined by their own blood. Elders will not be respected or given scant respect selectively. If that be the case ,what will be the position of elderly statesmen in politics? Delhi had seen the history of son killing the father to become the emperor. L.K Advani is a seasoned man he knows how to play his cards.

LKA is a seasoned politician..Excellent orator..But he lost the pulse of the nation in 2009...Since then he is on a downward spiral...I think he should realize his folly and stop playing politics to undermine the authority of the PM
