hai we are planning to do upanayam for my son 15 years old in the month of coming October. we do not know how to plan for it in advance. what are the activities involved . what is the approximate cost for each activitiy (with min budget). can any one explain us ? thanks in advance

Upanayanam can be Samashti upnayanam or it can be in a Matam or a Marriage hall or even house..So the cost will vary depending on your choice

It is better asking him to learn mantras from a learned brahmin if you are in a village it will be easy ...more than the expenses atleast "GAYTRI MANTRA" is more important..Atleast ask him to do 10 gayatri' mantra everyday. This is the most potent mantra which removes all sins.This is given by SAGE "VISHWAMITRA"..chanting atleast 108 times will yield better benefits..if not possible at least in brahmo upadesam day and avani avittam "GAYATRI JAPAM" day.
