This village (Tamnath) near Karjat, Maharashtra gives hope.
All it takes is for us to take charge of our own surroundings.

Bharat was clean 60 years ago. The rivers, tanks, streets, canals and open spaces were clean. In my street, house fronts were sprayed with cow dung water and decorated, kitchen and dry waste were dropped on the street minutes before the sweeper collected in his cart, vevetable peals left separately for animals to feed - nobody threw anything on the streets till next morning. We have to restart practices we have lost on the way.

My exp in UK. All wet dry waste was dumped in a big black bin in the back garden, transferred to garbage van by collecting staff (access to back garden through a small passage). Later started providing bin liners and later on we had to remove the bag, tie it and leave it in front of the house on the day the garbage truck will collect, once a week.

hi

yes we can.....we need awareness and implementing law required....law should not ONLY in papers....many laws are in papers....

just an example...in USA....last winter....john kerry the state secretary was on tour to india/saudi arabia with obama.....the

heavy snow was pilled in his home in boston,MA....it was not cleared within period....he was fined by the local muncipality.....

he paid the penalty....is it happened in india?....then india will be cleaned....all rules and implementation come from the top....

not from the bottom....

Basically peoples mindset should change. Most households keep the inside of their houses clean. But they throw their unwanted stuff on the road. Littering, spitting - everything in the open.

Area wise inspection & issue warnings to the authorities from Top level down to the cleaner. It should be done on every

Saturday & by Monday Public would know as to whether the area has become clean or not ? The Officer , down the line should be fined for the lapse. Also give Award every month & Publicise locally---all to see . Do not involve any political man/ woman
