Dear All,

Socio Economic and Caste Census 2012 in TN begins on Apr 20 and will last 40 days.


The Hindu : Cities / Madurai : Caste-based census to begin on April 20


It would be good if our community members come forward to participate and register their details.

I wanted to cite this article, which appeared in "The Hindu" a few days back, before but I did not find time.

The Hindu : States / Tamil Nadu : Caste outfits ask members to shed sub-sect identities

Caste consolidation is at hand presumably as a precursor to communal quotas!

Also, note the reference to varna terms among NB communities like Vanniyarkula "Kshathriyar" or "Kshathriya" Nadar Iyakkam. So much for the land of EVR

If a "casteless" category emerges, what do you think will its size be in TN?
