To counter the rise in crime against women, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan thinks it is the responsibility of the parents to teach their sons on how to behave with girls.

"We have to change the concept of how we bring up our children at home. We need to teach boys how to be gentle, good and respectful to women," Khan told reporters here last night when asked to comment on the rising crime graph against women.
The superstar said when he talks about girls to his teenage son, he tells him to never break a girl's heart.

"I tell him - Don't break a girl's heart, treat her gently and there is no way that you can look at an atrocity done on a women and if you do that you will not be forgiven by your father and mother," Khan added.

I don't think all these goody goody ways will bear any positive results under the present Indian social conditions.

Woman and sex have become more and more of a consumption/luxury items during the last few years, due to the many changes that have happened in our social milieu as also in the different kinds of media. This has naturally set the sexual instincts of the young and not-so-young male population at a highly inflammable level. Some males in certain sections of the society become unable to control their urge and attempt to get the sexual pleasure by force.

The most pragmatic solution to this problem is to knowingly allow a sexually very permissive society and to deal with its consequences as per the advice of the best people in different fields like medicine, social sciences, etc. Awarding capital punishment to all rapists etc., will at best result in a reduction in total population of young people in the prime of their age but will not bring down the incidents of rape. If children are born out of such rapes, they should be taken over by the government and suitable budgetary provisions should be made for this purpose along with new legislation to take care of all the matters relating to such children - like caste, guardianship, adoption, etc.

Prasad,

Quoting Shahruk khan for 'how to bring up your sons' is not being appreciated by me. Shahruk khan, you may be
aware, has been banned from entering Mumbai wankade Stadium due to his drunken brawl with the security. When he could not set himself as an example in a public place due to his excessive drinking then how can he advise his son ? I am not telling that a drunken father cannot be good to his son or cannot advise. He can and his advice need to be only private and to his son only. It cannot be quoted for the public as if is coming from a Mahatma.

Sorry I am not able to agree with your argument but if I agree with your views, then it will look as if I am not agreeing with my own views.
