Chocolate Shiva!

What will happen to 505 kilo chocolate that was used to make this 17 ft high Shivalinga at the end of Shivratri? It is in Ahmedabad according to The Indian Express. It doesn't look nice to eat shivalinga as Prasad.

17 ft chocolate 505 kilo linga, a' bad.webp

I think eating it as a sweet prasaadam is better than

dumping it in water and smashing it to pieces!

During the Annaabhishekhams the enormous Siva linga is made with cooked rice and decorated with

vegetables, fruits and many other edible itms. After the puja it is distributed to the baktas and

maha prasad. We do not waste food items. Either we offer food to God and eat it s prasadam.

If the God himself is made of edible medium , we worship him first and then eat the prasadam.

'Eating god' sounds a bit odd.
Like the Giant Laddu offering by a sweet shop in Bangalore, we may have a giant chocolate as prasad, but not in linga form. We make ganesh with turmeric powder or clay and dissolve it. At least it wont spoil the environment and health. Moreover we dont have religious permission to make statues with any material.

I agree with Dr. Swami. Why
should the lingam be made of chocolate? I feel very bad even when people make cakes

in the shape of living beings - humans / animals, just to cut and eat them! :hungry:

I think Smt. VR writes about the plight of huge Vinayaka idols made to worship during Vinayaka chathurthi and thrown

into the sea by lifting them by cranes! They are smashed to make into small pieces. Even after repeated requests that

the idols should be made of water soluble substances, they make with plaster of Paris, which
once set is insoluble! :tsk:

Dear Sis,

I have seen the 'annaabhishEkam' at Chidhambaram temple. The special 'maragatha lingam' is covered with annam and

worshiped and later the annam is made as 'kalandha chaadham' and distributed. We are eating only the 'abhishEka annam'

and NOT the lingam! :nono:

It does not really matter what the food we eat resembles after all God is also in the food we it but when we make huge amounts of edible stuff at one go there is risk of bacterial contamination of the food and this puts the Bhakta at risk of contracting Acute Gastro Enteritis (Food Poisoning)..so its is better not to make a huge Shiva Linga of chocolate for human consumption.

Dear RR ji,

I once could not even eat a cake that was the shape of mickey mouse!
cos I felt sad..poor mickey!

BTW once my mum made some dhall where she had put uncut baby carrots in it and it somehow turned a little dark after cooking and the baby carrots resembled human little fingers!LOL

I could not eat the dhall at all....after that day I can't eat baby carrots at all..I still get reminded of fingers.

Another dish I could not eat for a while is Saag..my mum once made Saag from Palak..its a thick spinach paste like dish...that night after eating it I dreamt that the saag became a monster and chased me..so it took me many years to start eating saag again.

I had lots of food phobia as a child...I used to be scared of eating dried dates cos it looked like cockroaches only when I turned 17 I could eat dates.

Dear Renu,

My son hated to eat cauliflower curry when he was young saying that they are 'kOzhi flowers'!

I too don't like that curry, if made in large pieces! Esp. the 'gobi manchurian'!! :pout:

Gobi-Manchurian-600.jpg

Once I saw in a five star hotel, a curry made of veNdaikkAy, with the tips cut open like a mouth
and two peppers fixed close enough to resemble eyes of some 'jandhu'! :fear:

You people are going to take rebirth in China, where you will be served food every day with Cockroaches, Crabs, Lizards, Snakes and scorpions.

They showed it to us in Channel 4 in Britain. They eat barbecued scorpions and drink glass of snake blood!
God bless the creatures.

Being born in China or as a Chinese NEED NOT make it compulsary

to include in one's menu everything that moves with legs

(except furniture)
as well as those which crawl, creep, slither, slide,

hop, jump, fly or swim. (Have I left out anything???)

My elder daughter-in-law is of Chinese origin.

Her family worships Budhdha, adores India and respects Indians.

They are all VEGANs - not just vegetarians like us.

No sweeping statement can ever become true.

Even if I were to be born in China or Korea,

I will remember to be satvic in everything I do!

Thanks for the curse! :yo:

Make sure it does not backfire!!

Since you may not remember to be satvic - if born in China!!!:hungry:

BTW none of us know what we will be in our next birth..BTW being a Yama Duta would be nice!
get to drag everyone to hell!LOL

That is very interesting.
TV shows generalise everything or force us to generalise everything.

About the CURSE, I already made it clear that it was a joke.
I know tamilbrahmin.com readers have a sense of humour!
