Lets go the VR way: brain storm word poems: So there were 3 maggi's and they brought gifts. Whatever happened to the gift! the child was born.
Is Vaishnavism part of Hinduism or a separate religion, since equating Ganesh Chaturthi, a popluar Hindu festival, with Christmas forces a Hindu to raise such a question?
Dear Chandru,
Good question...lets find similarities between Christmas and Ganesh Chaturti.
1)Both Ganesha and Jesus are the sons of Gods.
2)Both Christmas and Ganesh Chaturti are birthdays of these 2 sons of Gods.
Now lets go to the differences:
1)Ganesh Chaturthi does not have Santa Claus.
Dec 25 is the day of a festival connected with pagan Roman solar god Sol Invictus. Some say that Christianity took up the festival for itself though this is disputed. Dec 25 is also the date of winter solstice. Christianity per se has some similarity with Sun worship. Sunday a *holy day* for example. Though I dont want to open a can of worms here - just that it might interest some hindus who are in the practice of worship of the Sun.. recital of Gayatri mantra...Aditya Hridayam etc.
Madam,
While the member has right to celebrate any festival, irrespective of religion, the reason of my raising the issue is that the member justifies her X-Mas celebration with a Hindu festival, as it directly or indirectly conveys Ganesh Chathurthi is a different religious festival.
Further, who is the father of Jesus Christ?
Dear Chandru ji,
As far as I know Vaishnavas only focus on Lord Vishnu.
Anyway Hinduism does not really have the word Religion..the word used is Matam meaning an opinion.
So worship of Ganesha and other forms fall under a different matam.
Likewise Jesus too would fall under a different matam.
So Ganesh Chaturti is a different matam celebration but not a different religion celebration.
Christmas is a different matam and different religion celebration.
Coming to the question "Who is the Father of Jesus?"
As far as I know He is known as the Father and He is supposed to be God.
Dont ask me who His wife is cos till today no one knows the gender of the Holy Ghost!
