There was a time when i had to stand and wait for hours in long queue in banks for my turn to collect the token, again a long wait in another serpentine queue to remit cash. The long wait and queues followed like a shadow wherever i went, in Telephone Exchange to pay bills, in EB Offices to pay charges, at Railway Booking counters to book tickets etc etc.

With the advent of IT i am saved of long wait and queues. I pay bills, book tickets, transfer amounts at my desk with a few clicks on the ubiquitous computer.

But sadly I missed something; the new friends I built and meaningful chats with the friends and the rapport we built during the long wait.

The human interaction has drastically reduced. Life has become a course of interaction with an inanimate machine on a pseudo conversation.

I am tempted to use chat tool to interact with someone in office seated not far away but in the next seat.

WHERE ARE WE HEADING?

Dear Shri Acharya,

If this is something you find it difficult to accept, the scientists have much more in store for you. There is this idea of "a cyborg, short for "cybernetic organism", a being with both biological and artificial" floating around. So it is not only the normal human interactions that are at stake but even the very idea of self.

Thanks Sravna for your response. It immensely gratifies to learn that there is at least one soul in this forum who empathizes with me. I feared we have almost become cyborgs.

Im sorry for this belated post. Could you guess what I was doing in the meanwhile!!! (Not a question but an exclamation). I was holidaying in my hometown. The first time in my life I enjoyed holidays consecutively for 11 days!!!! I went to bank in person to transact. Wow!! They had gone on holidays too!! I was not disappointed. I was glad to learn we have not yet become cyborgs.
