Cortana, Microsoft’s virtual Assistant began its journey on Windows Phone, and over the past few months planted its seeds on iOS and Android. It first was available for testing on Android, and then on iOS earlier this year, and after months of user feedback, Microsoft has fixed the bugs and listened to the suggestions.

Cortana finally exits beta, and has launched on iOS and Android with some new features such as location-based reminders that are stored in the cloud. Meaning that you can set these reminders anywhere on any device with the same account. Then there is syncing with Windows. Missed calls can be responded to from the PC itself. Cortana now also comes with support for flight and package tracking.

As mentioned above, it is compatible with iOS and most (but not all) Android devices. It even comes preloaded on devices with Cyanogen OS.

What do you think? Can Cortana beat Siri and Google Now on their own turf?

Not as useful and intuitive as Google Now!
I turned it off in my windows 10 devices because Cortana tries to be way too intrusive and wants access to everything. They have not yet learned to balance between privacy needs and information needed to provide useful actions proactively. The underlying search engine leaves lot to be desired. They have an uphill battle to climb. By introducing a bit too early they risk killing its image.

Microsoft under Nadella has become a cool company with forays into high tech features. But sadly their execution is off the mark. I would replace a large number of their executives in charge of execution
