The main highlight of Justice Lodha's verdict in the IPL scandal:
Former Chennai Super Kings former official Gurunath Meiyappan and Rajasthan Royals' co-owner Raj Kundra suspended for life from cricket.
'Former CSK official Meiyappan suspended for life for betting in IPL 2013,' declared Justice Lodha.
'Meiyappan ought not to have indulged in corrupt practices. Any person who has true passion for the game will not bet. Meiyappan was engaged in heavy betting, it was his bad luck he made no profits. Meiyappan's conduct affected the image of BCCI, IPL, the players and others associated with the tournament," he adds.
On Raj Kundra, he says: 'Raj Kundra suspended for life from being involved in any activities of the BCCI. After investigation it was found that Raj Kundra was placing bets through punters. Rajasthan Royals have damaged the faith of BCCI and the sport, Raj Kundra has been found guilty of misconduct. Raj Kundra is a first time offender but his misconduct has brought disrepute to the game."
However, the biggest news of the day was the suspension of the two former IPL winners -- Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings -- for a period of two years from the IPL.
"Gurunath Meiyappan acted with consent of India Cements. Propose to impose sanctions on India Cement's franchise by suspending it from the league for 2 years," said Justice Lodha.
"Jaipur IPL team can't shrink responsibility by saying Mr. Kundra acted in personal capacity. Its true that Mr.Kundra relinquished his shares from Rajasthan Royals in March, but it was too late," he added.
