Death: The Final Frontier

Or is it? Yesterday I heard a very interesting book being discussed on the radio: Erasing Death

The full summary of the interview (and the podcast) is here: 'Erasing Death' Explores The Science Of Resuscitation : NPR

It is extremely interesting both from a medical and a philosophical point of view as it talks about how large numbers of people have been revived after being clinically dead for minutes or even hours.

Would like to discuss more after members have taken a look. Should lead to some soul-searching:)

So far when I had done CPR when I worked in the hospital some patients remember nothing.
They thought they fell asleep.

Some claimed to have seen bright light and beautiful angelic like women..

Some how it is always the males that see some beautiful female angel.

Women seldom say they saw any angelic male...may be all guys are in hell!LOL

Ok now getting to the facts:

If we listen to the stories of each patient..somehow their near death experience is always the "heavenly abode" their own religion has prescribed.

Even in weightlessness training for astronauts in zero gravity situations some have felt similar "near death" heavenly experiences which has been attributed to compromised blood supply to the brain.

Patients too give this same description of being weightless and then seeing all the heavenly images.

Now..a Christian will see a Christian like scene.

A Muslim will see even a desert with a bright light sometimes and we Hindus see our Ishta Devas.

So to a certain extent everyone is seeing what their mind already knows and they had been conditioned to believe.

So I am starting to wonder in cases of lack of blood supply to Brain may be only the "feel good portion" of the Brain that records memory..(I would also want to include the Subtle Body here..i am being Philosophical here..The Chitta records all events from live to live..microchip of the Subtle body) somehow is able to sustain its activity so that Death remains a pleasant transition.

Dying might be painful but Death could be pleasant transition.

It could be play of God to dull our senses and only give us pleasant memories upon Death before the reality of the next birth Karma kicks in.

This study to know the effects of Death etc is not complete if we are viewing the Physical body alone cos as we know the Subtle body too plays an important role in life sustenance with the interplay of Chakras and Prana.
