Did you ever got disturbed by Snoring ?

Once i was visiting Sabari Mala with a number of Devotees; I got very disturbed from sleep and woke up; Ohhh God.. The sound of snoring coming from all corners of the room where we were sleeping was really scary.

Believe me, adult snoring on a dark rainy night is scary; my wife often wakes me up to tell "stop snoring" and when i try to stop she starts snoring!!!

But she had never accepted that she was snoring, and says' her snoring was not like mine"!!

I find even small kids snore but the sound they make may not be a disturbing one,i think only older men make lot of snoring.

Many products are advertised here in US, for snore free sleep, but I do not know the effectiveness of those products.

Doctors say that snoring is due to some blockage or obstruction in breathing, when the nasal passages are too narrow and block the air; it seems there is cure by surgery too, but I wonder how many can take the risk of surgery and also pay the cost.

From my experience, using more than one pillow, and sleep position facing the ceiling can open up airways and help stop snoring to some extend.

Making a small coughing sound stops instantly the partner’s snore, but again after a few seconds it will continue.

Most singers do not snore because singing helps breathing passage to open and strong.

Some people suggest that closing the mouth and acting like chewing a gum for a minute or two helps strengthen the tongue to keep it from falling into your throat; also it strengthen the jaw which helps reduce snoring at nights.

I bet many of the oldies here must be snoring during night sleep, so i am not alone!!!

Dear PJ sir,

Obstructive Sleep Apnea is one of the leading causes of snoring in adults.

In kids its usually becos of blocked noses/adenoids/enlarged tonsils which is treatable.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea is not to be taken lightly..especially if it causes heavy snoring.

It can cause;

1)Strokes

2)Hypertension

3)Heart attacks

4)Weight Gain

5)Chronic Fatigue

6)Depression

7)Memory and concentration problems.

So if anyone snores loudly kindly see a doctor to ascertain the cause of snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea is treatable with CPAP Machine (Continous Positive Airway Pressure) and Yoga breathing exercise.

So oldie or not..dont take snoring lightly.
