Distance of Stars from EARTH

Stars are at a distance of 50 to 70 light years away from earth. If a ray of light starts from a particular STAR ( say any one of the 27 identified stars) simultaneously when a child is born at the earth, that ray will reach earth when then that child attains the age of 50 to 70 years . Who knows that, at the time the ray of light of the birth star reaches the earth the native ( the child /man/woman ) might have even died.

true...that is why when it comes to stars all we can say is:

Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are!
Up above the world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky.

When the blazing sun is gone,
When he nothing shines upon,
Then you show your little light,
Twinkle, twinkle, all the night.

Then the traveller in the dark
Thanks you for your tiny spark;
He could not see which way to go,
If you did not twinkle so.

In the dark blue sky you keep,
And often through my curtains peep,
For you never shut your eye
'Till the sun is in the sky.

As your bright and tiny spark
Lights the traveller in the dark,

The star of a person is the one which 'appears' to be nearest to the Moon, as seen from the Earth.

It is NOT calculated AFTER the light reaches our eyes from that particular star! :nono:

P.S: Our ancestors were brilliant and could calculate the occurrence of the Solar and Lunar eclipses,

before many many years, without Computer Ji's help! :thumb:

You have crossed half the well,try try again you can cross the well.The stars will not have a bearing upon your life. (I myself is an astrologer and research scholar(?).
Of course, I admit that our ancestors were brilliant; but your grand children will be more brilliant

Why cant it be that a child is born whenever a ray from the star reaches the earth... In which case we will have a continuous ray of lights... which also could possibly explain the numerous births under all the stars?
 
I reserve my reply to all the views expressed. I will explain the concept of "birth star" in Astrology at last after hearing all the views.

Your reply is logically correct but scientifically need not be true as the effects of light from a distance of approximately 185000x60x60x24x365.25x50 kms is almost nullified by the disbursement and scattering of light energy. But our ancient sages are quite good scientists to the core. But the answer is something different. I will certainly reveal it after having some interesting reactions with other eminent veterans like you in the site.
