Doubt regarding tharpanam!

My friend killed himself by suicide as he is an orphan nobody did his tharpanam still after 5 years. Is it okay to me to do his tharpanam as we belongs to different ancestorial line..but I need to do it ..
Is there is any margam for that ?please let me know...

sir, now the soul will be in praetha sareeram. You have to do thila homam at rameswaram to bring back from praetha sareeram to pithru sareeram. now it will cost you thirty thousand rupees. then only you may do tharpanam for him only on mahalaya paksham days. you cannot do tharpanam on other days for him.
