DRDO's new assault rifle will be a disaster for the army
The Indian Army rejected the DRDO's INSAS assault rifle in 2010 due to its all-round inefficiency.

Now the army is being forced to accept DRDO's Excalibur rifle, which is basically an ungraded variant of the INSAS rifle, to make up for a severe shortage of small arms.

Let alone quality; let us come to QUANTITY.

IS THERE ANY MECHANISM TO COUNTER CHECK the quantity supplied with the purchase bills on RECORD.
Of course don't say every thing is subject to audit. Auditors may come and go; but corruptive practices go on for ever.

Techniques of corruption is the legacy left back to the people who come to power next.

We are more concerned in the quality of marketing slogans than the quality of products bcos quality of slogan, I mean the attractiveness earns more votes and ultimately power, like 'India Shines', Incredible India, Garibi hatao, Achche din, etc etc

Most of the defese projects are running far behind schedule because the end user and financier have a lot to gain, by purchase of weapons with huge gains for the intermediaries. Nuclear and space research organisations escaped this because it was virtually impossible to import anything, even electronic goods, instrumentation, special material, because of sanctions. These two were left to their own fate by their political bosses, and so prospered. Every time a project was finalised with approved specs, enough hurdles were put - change of specs, fund starving, pressure from arms sellers and agents - to ensure that DRDO was undermined. Every defense purchase was overloaded by 50% for incidental expenses. Trax truck by bharat earth movers is a recent example of development with collaboration.

The new govt has initiated listing, prioritising of defense research projects with guaranteed funding and outcome.
