Dear all,
In the case of Ekadasi, it is told that one should be on a complete fasting and then they should be awake whole night and pray god the-whole night and then have an early food on dwadasi. In puranas and story of ekadasi it is also told that complete blessings of ekadasi would be obtained only when we are awake during the whole night and pray god. However in the case of Ekadasi day in practice no vishnu temple is open for the whole night even in the case of vaikunda ekadasi (big ekadasi) the vishnu temples are not open the whole night, moreover they distribute prasadams also during ekadasi day.
But in the case of shivrathri the shiva temples are open during the whole night atleast on the mahashivrathri day.
Is it complusory to be awake on the ekadasi day the whole night. what is the actual position and significance ???.
I wanted to go on fast on ekadasi days but elders say awake during the night will fetch complete blessings of the lord, this one condition of awake during the night becomes a hurdle for the ekadasi vratham.
Please clarify.
Regards,
Simha
