Although the publisher says this short Film is based on real incident, i very much doubt whether this can happen in
Chennai ?
Those who are in Chennai using Share auto might be able to give a better opinion.

However Women folks must be more careful in choosing this form of transport during ODD Hours.

When compare to other cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Hydrabad---Chennai is very much safe.. This type of true incident as claimed would not have happened...

Video 'shot on location' yes' - but the content is a load of rubbish.

I live pretty close to where this video was shot and have commuted on that stretch
of OMR [ now Rajiv Gandhi Salai ], maybe a million times by - car, bike, bus and
even share auto.

I recognized all the buildings in the video clip - the location is the premises of
M/s Andrew Yule & Co, where many groups of students from the Film Institute
come for 'project work' - I think this is just one such venture.

On the contrary, lady passengers feel safer in a share auto than in an 'engaged' one
especially in the awkward hours of the night.

Share autos usually ply point-to-point and is a type of hop-on, hop-off type of service
that people from cities elsewhere in India [ Non Tamil ] actually appreciate and patronize.

I have known some auto drivers deviate from the main roads and go out of the way to drop
lady passengers and aged people right at their door-step.

The depiction in the video is definitely a humbug. I have interacted with many people from other
states who actually praise this share auto service and wonder why the concept cannot be implemented
in their home towns.

Sri. Anand Sir

Yes, you are right, aged people feel safer in Share auto compared to single Auto and I also feel Chennai is much more a safer City but I am not comparing Chennai with Calcutta although Calcutta do not have Share autos, their Mini Buses are much more safer.

hi p j sir,
if bus rape in delhi...means all bus trip in delhi rape cases....if anything happen in areoplanes... does mean that alll flights are

bad......like that share auto incident.....

Dear TBS

You just hit the point. There are several women drivers of share autos on the OMR and ECR.
Some of then toil till 10.30pm, ferrying passengers of all linguistic backgrounds. Some of them
have even picked-up a few words in Hindi and Telugu.

Ladies waiting for a share auto do not particularly wait for one driven by a woman and there are
no exclusive 'Ladies Only' share autos either.

My daughter uses these share autos when she returns from the clinic in the night. Once I was
dumb-founded [ and also relieved ] when one of these lady drivers said casually, " Idhu Dilli Illai Sir ",
when I inquired about her inconvenience and safety in the night.

Paddu Sir, these share autos do not exactly offer the comforts of a BMW/Benz - in fact, one sits in them like
squatting in an Indian toilet - but there is so much going on, that one forgets the pressure on the
abdomen and consequently the rectum. And if ever a co-passenger were to 'pass wind' while in the
share auto, nobody will ever notice - the contraption [ Piaggio Ape ] makes a lot of noise itself, and there is
a very strong cross-ventilation, as all the sides are open - this is one of the 'luxuries' one can't get in an air-conditioned
car, with all the glasses wound up, and so little cabin noise !

Whatever one may say, the concept of share auto is a very affordable, secure and useful mode of transport
- especially in the peripheral areas of Chennai like Ambattur, Mogappair, Ambattur, Tiruvottyur, Ennore, Minjur etc.,

True, erring drivers will always be there - overloading and sometimes rude, but exceptional cases are everywhere.

But overall, the share auto ride is fun - helping one to have a supple body - crawling in and crawling out
of one these will ensure that.
