There are seven billion people on this world, and only 2 billion are online. Many corporations live and thrive on the Internet, and depend upon it to survive and earn money. It didn’t take long for many Internet Corporations to realize that if they brought the rest of this 5 billion online, and drove them towards their Services, they could greatly benefits while simultaneously doing some good for humanity.

This is why Facebook and Google have been working hard on their programs to bring Internet connections to developing countries. Using exotic ways such as Drones, lasers or Balloons, these companies aim to spread the gift of Internet in any way possible.

India has a large number of broadband users, one of the largest in the world, but they form a fraction of its billion strong population. This is why Facebook has announced that it is partnering with local Carrier Reliance to bring the Internet.org Program in six States.

It basically gives its users access to a few services, such as news Sites, Facebook, etc for free in Tamil Nadu, Mahararashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, and Telangana.

These Services are from a lot of different categories, and can surely bring changes into a user’s life, for the better.

All in all, it gives access to 38 Services free of charge, all of which can be accessed through the Official App, Opera Mini’s Start Screen or from the UC Browser app.

Almost all content is available in six languages in addition to English: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati and Marathi.

Facebook hopes to expand its program from these six states and bring Internet to the entirety of India.

What do you think? If Facebook does succeed in bringing Internet to all, what will be the implications?
