SpiceJet Cabin Crew dance on-board flight SG-876 from Goa to Bangalore!

Holi Celebrations & Dance by SpiceJet Crew on 17th Mar 2014 - YouTube

(New Delhi: Mid-air Holi celebrations aboard eight flights have cost no-frill carrier SpiceJet heavily, with the DGCA issuing show cause notice to the airline and suspending two of its pilots. Sources said that on Monday, the cabin crew of SpiceJet performed a small dance sequence on a song as part of Holi celebrations, with some passengers also joining in.

The videos of these events were taken and uploaded on video-sharing website YouTube and other social media. In one video, a pilot is seen coming out of the cockpit and taking photographs of the celebrations at the front of the aisle.

Official sources said the act constituted violation of all safety norms and two pilots were suspended. )

[h=1]SpiceJet faces DGCA show-cause notice over dance on Holi flights[/h]SpiceJet Ltd was on Wednesday issued a notice by the aviation regulator asking why its licence should not be suspended for violating safety rules during special Holi flights. Mint first reported on Wednesday that Prabhat Kumar, the director general of civil aviation, had summoned SpiceJet officials to explain why the airline had allowed cabin crew onboard its flights to perform a dance routine as a part of its Holi celebrations.
“We have issued a show-cause notice to them (SpiceJet) today asking why their licence should not be suspended,” a senior official of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said, declining to be named.
“They conducted eight flights on which there was dance in the aisle area harming passenger safety. The flights were reduced to a mockery, the centre of gravity of the aircraft could have been impacted,” the official said. “Mobiles were used to capture the show in violation of our rules. The dance could have provoked passengers into unruly behaviour. The captain came out and was dancing outside the cockpit.” SpiceJet, India’s second largest low-fare airline, has to reply to the notice within a fortnight, after which a decision will be taken on the airline’s licence, the official said.
SpiceJet said it had not received the notice but that it was “looking into the matter”.The airline ran the special flights on 17 March and videos of the dances have gone viral on social media. DGCA has suspended two SpiceJet pilots, including a captain, pending investigation.
SpiceJet has 57 planes and runs 350 daily flights.

this is flying with happiness indian style. kyon ki yeh holi hai. in delhi there there were 570 accidents on the road and only five deaths [there were 12 the year before]. if you ignore this the colours bring with it merriment and heralds the spring.the brindaban holi and latmar in radhas" place [when men are sprayed with gulal and also beaten with sticks by ladies -called latmar holi] is a great sight. all participate. there is also bhang and sweets and living it up for the day. there is hangover for a couple of days after that. we ,indians know how to be happy.

hi
i heard this comment....is it true?..........just curious...

Finally, this led to the suspension of two pilots

DGCA in action; pilots would have been spared had it been a valentine day dance!

Justification: Centre of gravity of the plane might have shifted (heavy weight cabin crew); cell phone used to capture the video (aeroplane mode available for using mobile); rowdy passengers might have lost balance and poise (hope, the crew commanded all passengers to fasten seat belts).

No wonder dgca official refused to be identified.

The spicejet shots were aired on some indian TVs. spicejet had posted extra crew for this extra entertainment and claimed it was normal in the west to have entertainment such as magic shows . I thought taht DGCA stand was over done. perhaps pilots coming out to shoot the proceedings on camera was not warranted. people get sometimes carried away since yeh holi hai

I do not know really as to how, the Tamil Brahmins living in the states where Holi is celebrated with no distinction of South or North., do on that occasion of Joy? Do they, participate in the celebration, with wives ? I mean both Husband & wife join with other North Indian families live together in a colony like Delhi/ Mumbai/ Etc Or do they shun & avoid ?
