I have seen American husbands with vacuum cleaner in one hand
and duster in the other
and with a baby tied on the back like a reverse kangaroo
and minding the pots boiling on the four burner electric stove.
WHAT WAS HIS WIFE DOING?????? :bored:???

Doing what men did in the past - sit in front of the idiot box with a scotch in hand! Or reading the newspaper sipping coffee!

Husband helping out with housework does not mean that wife is not doing housework and enjoying herself.

Most working couples share house work.

Dear Renu,

Unless the wife is sick, most of the Indian husbands do not help in household chores! Hence the

girls have started demanding for equality even while they search for their partners! The usual

scene in most of the Sing. Chennai houses with retired couples, in the morning is, the husband

will cover his face with a news paper and expect the wife to bring him his cup of hot coffee! And

the wife is supposed to do all the work in the kitchen and also cleaning of the house if the helper

maid is on leave! But I have seen a couple, our family friends, where the wife sweeps the floor

and the husband wet-mops the floor; wife cooks food and husband sets the table; wife washes

the vessels and husband arranges on the shelves; wife washes the clothes in washing machine

and husband dries them! Lovely to see! :D

Dear RR ji,

I work longer hours than my husband and I come home some 1 1/2 hours after he does.

So we have no choice but to share the work.

Yesterday I cooked lunch and my husband washed the dishes.

Sometimes he cooks dinner too..but usually I cook when reach home cos I make low calorie meals..if he cooks it tends to be a bit higher in calorie!LOL

We have to share the task otherwise work will never finish.

He maintains cleanliness of the ground floor of house and I maintain the cleanliness of 1st floor of house.

If one of us is sick then we do each others share of work.

My father also tries to help my mum at home but my mum is the type who wants to do everything herself cos she feels she does a better job!

Anyway my father is the Chapati Maker at home...my mum cooks everything else and my dad makes the Chapatis.
