There is a new project at familytreeDNA, that is specific to Iyer, Iyengar, Gurukkal, and Namboothiris from southern India.If you have tested Y-DNA and/or mtDNA, please join the project.Te main goal is to study the diversity in these populations and if possible glean information on their ancestral origins.
Project participants must have known ancestral lineage from the above groups to join (paternal and/or maternal).
Those who do not know if they have lineage from the above groups are also welcome to join, provided their results match someone who is already a project participant.
If you have a paternal ancestor from this group, please also provide your Gotra.
