There seems to be a way to read the minds of the public nowadays. Google search engine has made it possible. When you search something and you start typing the letters, google automatically suggests the words to you based on those letters. These suggestions are the most popular searches starting with such letters. Since these are the most popular searches, this gives an indication of how many people think of something or have a certain opinion about something.

For example when I type in google.com,

why are brahmins so

the top 4 suggestions are,

1.Why are brahmins so smart?
2.why are brahmins so fair?
3.why are tamil brahmins so smart?
4.what are tamil brahmins so intelligent?

Seriously this seems to be a way to find out the popular perceptions on almost anything.

It's a stupid thing that piggy-backs onto Google Chrome and keeps appearing every time I open a new tab.

I've tried uninstalling Chrome and re-installing it - It just wont go away !

See whether this will be helpful:

You have to go through control panel - add/remove programs-uninstall delta from the program list.

If the codes for the delta search are embedded in chrome, then above above method may not work. Even the new tab page link and startup page link in the settings get overwritten by delta.

Then the best way is to uninstall chrome and install it with a fresh download. I had to do this.

Delta search gets hitched on some downloads and is a nuisance. When you download and install some applications like file convert, audio/video edit, delta can gain entry if one is not very careful.

Coming to Google they have optimized their search engine Hummingbird in Sep'13 to give better and accurate results

Hummingbird helps Google to understand the meaning behind the search words..and gives the answer without the need for you to click on additional links

For example if you type The Exorcist earlier only the links were provided...Now with this new algorithm on the RHS you can see details of the movie cast, story by, screen play and movie ratings etc..Great show Google! Keep it up!

In addition to removing malware programs via control panel, it may be worth while going to this URL: chrome://extensions/ That will show you all extensions installed in the browser itself. Some of these could be malware or unnecessary as well.

BTW, this forum shows as the No. 1 result when I search Google for "Tamil Brahmins". Jai Ho!

Dear Anand Manohar,

If you have not removed Delta Home page yet, by now it would have become your search engine, home page etc. It is much worst than that. Most spywares/ Trojans ride behind Delta Home. Since Delta Home is not seen as virus by many protective soft wares, it escapes detection.

If you can't get rid of it, seek professional help. For example, it would be transmitting all your online banking details. My daughter had a real tough time to get rid of it... but she did it. But don't exactly remember how!.. It was that hard.

I have tried everything possible [ - no I'm really not computer savvy ], but this
silly Delta Search thing just doesn't go away.

I have even tried uninstalling Google Chrome and re-installing it .

Any suggestion / idea / advise about what protective software / anti virus to be used
would most welcome.

Just disabling chrome extension will not do as the registry has to be cleaned. In my case I had two programs in the program list, delta installer and delta search. I had to remove both the programmes with an uninstaller. Delta vanished only after this step. Just reloading chrome will not help if the registry is not cleaned by uninstalling delta and other programs associated with it.

Please google "how to remove delta search" and you will get number of tips.

Essentially if it is not possible to remove it through Start > Control Panel > Add/remove programmes, you may try the procedure in the undernoted url.

Cleaning of registry is also not very difficult; only thing is you should take up a registry back-up before doing anything with the registry.
