[h=1]Google to pilot hands-free mobile payments[/h] Tuesday 2 June 2015
Google has unveiled it will pilot a new payment service in the San Francisco Bay area, US, later in 2015 that will enable users to make hands-free, in-store mobile payments.
The service dubbed ‘Hands Free’ is set to be trialed at McDonald’s and Papa John’s outlets.
Consumers will have to say the phrase “I’d like to pay with Google” at a shop’s register and then they can check out without even touching their wallet or phone.
With this hands-free method, it seems one has to approach the cashier, recite the incantation, and an app apparently reacts, instantly charging your bank account. No more swiping and re-swiping credit cards and users don’t even need to lay a finger on their phone.
