I have relocated to Bangalore and purchased a new apartment and would like to perform Griha pravesham. On checking with the local Vadhyar i have been advised that 28th April 2013 is a good day to perform the griha pravesham. While discussing this with one of my cousins he saw the panchangam and mentioned something about marana yogam on this date ie. 28th April 2013. So now i am completely lost and confused on what to do. Please can you check and guide me on the same. Respectfully yours Ganesh

Yes, there is marana yogam on 28th April 2013. However, there is good tara balam on that day for some nakshatrams. Sometimes astrologers may take different things into account.

It is better to consult kgopalan sir or other people about this.

In these matters one should have faith in one Vadhyar and proceed. If you go on checking with more persons, you will not be able to arrive at a decision, because you cannot decide it confidently. Even big ceremonies like marriages are conducted fully on faith only. In spite matching horoscopes, finding out 'nalla neram' , etc. etc. some marriages do not work out and break. Put the burden on HIM and proceed.

For Bangalore on 28-04-2013, it is Parigha Yoga after 6.00 A.M. but if you do the "pAl kAcchaRatu" between 4.00 and 4.45 A.M., the Yoga is VareeyAn and it is good time. So consult your vAdhyAr and you may quote this post for reference, if need arises. The rest of the function like homam, pooja/s etc., can be done after the "pAl kAcchaRatu", imho. If however the vAdhyAr insists on some item to be done before this "pAl kAcchaRatu", like say Ganapathi homam, then see that it is completed before 4.30 A.M.

The problem has arisen probably because the vAdhyAr refers to one kind of almanac while your cousin refers to another!!

If we know astrology, I think it is better to avoid giving opinions like "If you ask me I will tell that there is no good date in the month of April,2013 Since Shukra is combust." Shri Ganesh did not ask you speciifically and AFAIK, combust Shukra is considered only in the case of marriage.

Since the person has already consulted a vAdhyAr etc., why should you put a "spoke" in the wheel and then give the advice "However, I request you to go by VADHYAR's words, and rest leave it to him." This is typical of professional astrologers and the result is that the person concerned will lose faith in the whole system.

Again, the details of how a grihapravesam is done, varies from place to place; here it is in Bengaluru. Let us leave the nitty gritty to local customs instead of once again frightening the person with "However please conduct NAVA GRAHA HOMA ." Suppose Navagraha homa is not customary in those areas why should we unnecessarily "gaabharaa"fy an innocent fellow? After all can you give a guarantee that if grihapravesam is done according to your prescriptions, everything will work out extremely well? We cannot, is it not? So, please don't try to frighten and confuse people. Instead try to "help" them with the minimum inconvenience.

Thank you very much for your post/replies. Actually the Vadhyar from Sankar mutt suggested the date 28th April and being a Sunday I wanted to proceed on this date. However after knowing of the additional information I checked with another Vadhyar who checked the panchang and suggested me perform the griha pravesh on 25th April which happens to be pournami. Now the ball is in my court pending my decision on which date to perform. However I cannot understand how was the date of 28th April suggested when the panchang document used should be the same. Something to think and ponder ! Thank you

My namaskarams to you sir. I do not say that venus combust is OK for grihapravesam. My only feeling was why should we unnecessarily frighten a person who has consulted his vAdhyAr and would have peacefully conducted the grihapravesam of his newly built house but for the unfortunate interference by his cousin based on some panchangam indicating something bad.

I have also learnt a bit of astrology, but I don't have any collection of books. (I gave many books to people who were interested in learning astrology.) And, I think the primary duty of an astrologer is to be a counsellor, and not a doomsday prophet, for the person who comes for consultation. Here, in this case, this gentleman has already fixed a date. And our mantras usually have the words "yogascha karanam chaiva sarvam vishnumayam jagat. Sree govinda, govinda, govinda...". Hence, ultimately we do put the entire thing on god's grace. So, let us try to be as helpful as possible, instead of further increasing the confusion of the querist. That is all what I say.
