Shocked beyond words that U.Ve.Sa called Tamil Thatha the greatest Tamil scholar's house has been demolished..Our community should have stood behind him and supported the converting of his house into a memorial...Really sad..Shows that community has deserted its own scholars..

This ancestral house was the place where Tagore met Iyer in 1926..We cannot even save the house of the person who saved ancient literary works in Tamil such as Silappadigaram, purananuru and etthuthogai

I tried to search if this was discussed in our forum ever..Unfortunately, no

The Hindu did cover the impending demolition in 2012 which I gathered today

This perfectly indicates how disarray is Iyercommunity in Tamil Nadu.

RKNarayan's house was also faced similar fate, I think.

ThoughTamil Iyer community has been producing internationally acclaimed personalitiesregularly, we neither discuss nor give them proper elevation. We really don'thave interest in our community affairs.

Lackof proper understanding between us let down terribly so many distinguishedIyers.

- Muthuswamy Dikshidhar and Shyama Shastri were not placed on par withThiagaraja.
- No one pitched Bharat Ratna to Viswanathan Anand
- No one questioned when the CM of TN did not have the basic courtesy ofcondoling the death
of DK Pattammal. Recently, TN Governor condoled the death of NenduriKrishnamurthy.
- No proper recognition for Musicians like Maharajapuram Viswanatha Iyer,GNB and Madurai
Mani Iyer, whereas Ariyakudi was awarded Padma Bhushan, who belonged tothe same batch.

Theabove is only a tip of the iceberg.

Iyercommunity is caught in the disarray syndrome.

Wemust stand on our own legs.

Shri Chandru ji,

The problem is, we stand so firmly on our own legs, that no two people can agree on anything!

Shri Chandru ji,

This is despite the fact that Thambraas is supposed to be active in Triplicane area..If we do recognize our stalwarts then who will..It shows a lackadaisical and nonchalant attitude! It will do no good!

Shri Chandru ji,

It is OK that no two people can agree on anything, if majority of TN comprises of only Tamil Speaking Iyers. As TN is a mixed society, TN Iyers must think in unison and work for a common cause. So many popular Tamil speaking Iyers are being left out and are not considered properly.

The Carnatic Musicians from Palghat, who settle permanently in TN, are taken care of very well, since the community has good understanding and unity, irrespective of sub sect.

Palghat Mani Iyer, MD Ramanathan, K V Narayanaswamy, T N Krishnan, M S Gopalakrishnan, Palghat Raghu, T V Gopalakrishnan, K S Narayanaswamy etc.

In TN, you must have good PR qualities for proper recognition. Otherwise, unity is the only option.

There are many other brahmin musicians who were and are famous!
