“He stabbed me, darling.” These are the last words IT professional Prabha Arun Kumar, 41, uttered to her husband after she was brutally attacked in a Sydney park on Saturday night.

Kumar, 41, was knifed as she took a shortcut home through ParramattaPark.
The IT professional was found by a passerby who rushed her to a nearby hospital. However, unfortunately, she had lost too much blood and the doctors were unable to save her.
“It is a horrific attack without any stretch of the imagination,” police Superintendent Wayne Cox said.
Kumar’s husband flew to Australia from India, where both he and their nine-year-old daughter live, after the attack but reportedly arrived to be told that his wife had died.
The dead woman’s flatmate said Kumar had probably not wanted to bother anyone to ask for a lift home after finishing work late and arriving at Parramatta train station at 9 pm.
Instead she decided to walk, and was attacked near a tree-lined walkway.
“Because she was working late regularly, she felt bad to ask for help,” her flatmate, who asked to be identified as Sarada, told The Daily Telegraph.
“Maybe that is the reason she didn’t call.”
Sarada said she had repeatedly warned her friend not to walk through the park after dark.
“I told her that it is not a safe way to come through because there are people that stop and ask you for money,” she said.
“I don’t know how I am going to face her husband. She is very close to her husband and her daughter. She talks to them every day, as soon as she finishes work she calls her husband and keeps talking. She has a good family.”
Police have established a task force to investigate the murder but no arrests have so far been made.

Never talk on mobile phone risking one's life.
Telephonic talks distract/ disturb and are unsafe
while moving on foot/ in car or any other vehicle!
She could have called the helpline/ police/ ambulance
if she were not already on another call at the time of attack.

You are absolute right Madam!

Why should one walk alone in a foreign shore in the night in a Park?

Is it a racial crime..Not sure as the Sydney police are ruling this out??

Do you know the response of the **noise brigade** , when the noise brigade was making more noise than sense, when the same question was asked by a member, when the subject matter was rape?

When she is stabbed on the neck, how can she make any call?

Also, the thief might have stolen all her stuff including her mobile phone.

Any way, Indians can argue that India is not the ONLY country where women are unsafe!

We advise our daughter to call and talk to us when she takes a taxi at night to catch a late night flight or arrival. It is safer to talk than to sit quiet.

Currently Women are requested to call some close friend / family members before they start on a late night or early morning journey and to keep texting their routes regularly .

Our friend at Bangalore arranged Meru Cab for our early morning travel to the railway station because the route is sent throughout

the journey, by sms, to our mobile. If and when the cab takes a wrong turn, we can immediately report to the authorities.

So it is not just the US huh? Where is JayKay with his rants now?

I think it is just a crime, like any other, sad though it may be. It happens all over the world, and it is not clear that she was targeted for being an Indian. All usual rules of caution apply.

Some people are desperate to down play any issues withthe whites while they want to rant about all the issues in India.

When the whites themselves are saying, they have amassive racism issue, our silly NRIs rant desperately in this forum to show them in good light. LOL !!

So what if this crime is not race related ?. what is the extra-ordinary hurry for our NRIsto show this as a normal crime????, even before the investigation is complete?

lets wait for the official report…

She taunts a man and, beside him, an Asianwoman. The invective is caught on camera and posted online.
