Hi I am Janani from Jaffna Srilanka
Hindu religion is full of rich rituals some of them auspicious and some inauspicious.
One of the the ceremoney where a sumangali lady becomes a widow.
As of now we do not have a proper ceremoney for that the Thaali is removed during the funeral and that's the it.
But now there is a thought that the widow ceremoney also must be done in a proper ritualistic way it is done in Tamil Nadu.Currently we are studying various cultures that exists in Tamil Nadu.
As I understand although widows do not observe rules of widow hood throught their lives I think the initial 16th or 10th day ceremoney is done according to customs .
What I would like to know is how these ceremonies were done in the Brahmin community. I would like to study the every step from the day the husband deceased to the widow ceremoney.
Thanks Janani
