my you tube link is not working
there is a fatwa against practising of yoga in malaysia. I do not know about other muslim countries . islamists consider yoga as anti religion this is for info. of all indians in these countries who are members here

The attached link has two youtube segments.

The talk by Rajiv Malhotra on the occasion of the release of this film on Republic Day is much more than just about Yoga .
There are fascinating news items that I was not aware of until I saw the segment.

History of Yoga Film Release | Indra's Net

There are many subtopics in the speech that has been of some discussions in the past at this forum.
I tried to watch it, but it was too boring, and I switched it iff.

I have noted that some Non Indians/Non Hindus who practice Yoga sort of become a bit "delusional"

I am not being a racist here but I have noted that they tend to get carried away and feel as if they are in a different realm altogether.Often you hear them say.."I am at peace..I am with my inner self..I feel the spirituality etc"

God knows what they feel..I myself do some Yoga poses from time to time but I do not get that "high" feeling like what some Non Hindus and Non Indians get. For God's sake its just an exercise..why get so carried away?

Any of you guys here who do Yoga get carried away by it??

The early intro by someone welcoming Rajiv Malhotra is boring indeed.
But I thought Rajiv's talk was fascinating with details I was unaware of ...
Anyway I understand your POV

I do Integral yoga classes two days a week. I do not get any high, then again it is me. I do it purely for the stretching exercise. The class is fun and people I attend with are very good and socially we do many things together.
There is moment of meditation, but I still have not mastered it. I do agree with your point Renukaji, I get a kick out of the comments from some of the participants.

Respected Renukaji,
Yoga( or more orthodoxically Astanga Yoga of Patajali) has 8 steps( as the name suggests). Those r 1. Yam 2. Niyam 3. Aasan 4.Pranayaam 5.Pratyahaar ( outer or physical till pratyahaar)....... 6.Dhyaan 7. Dhaarana 8. Samadhi ( Inner feeling of integration of self with infinite & absolute). Perhaps you were following only the " Pranayaam" part which is the half-way of the "Total" yoga system, thus u couldnot find it spiritually sound. But many people indeed claim spiritual peace and tranquility after following yoga.....How much that claim is correct needs to be verified.
I have somewhere read that the most common bond between all the Dharmic religions is their meditation practices and Yoga system ( remember even Buddhists and Jainas refer to postures as "Asanas" and believe in Samadhi as one of the last stages with only difference that their samadhi is "Shunyata" without the "Absolute( we call it GOD) " while our Hindu traditions call it as a merger with God. Even Bhagwad Gita of Lord ShriKrishna can be called as the " Song of three paths of Yoga-Karmyoga, Jnanayoga, and Bhaktiyoga".
