Indian school history textbooks don’t use the word “holocaust” while teaching world history and the second World War. In one instance, where a government-prescribed textbook was published during the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) previous reign at the centre, even the details of the genocide are completely glossed over.
These revelations were made in a study titled “International Status of Education About the Holocaust,” conducted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation and the George Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research. The study aimed to compare how the holocaust is taught in countries around the world and find out whether the dissemination of information about the holocaust is fragmented or distorted in any way to serve political ends.

Similiar descriptions of World War Two and its outcomes in Chinese textbooks are described in relation to happenings in China, the report said. Chinese textbooks refer to the holocaust as genocide and then compare it to the Japanese invasion of China in 1937. The texts treat the massacre of Chinese civilians by Japanese troops in Nanjing with more historical significance than the holocaust.

I know a person whom I used to meet often in California. He is the grandson of one Jew who was done to death by Nazi. He used to narrate he atrocities of Nazis. anyone who dont believe holocaust shud be simply stupid. I know BJP is soft to Nazi just because Nazi called themselves as aryans. I dont remember having gone through those textbooks but I dont think even BJP would have denied the holocaust. - srinivasan

Any civilized nation will have to accept the truth of "Holocaust". One of my classmate used to tell me that how she and her parents escaped the Nazis. Then I had no idea about "Holocaust". All I knew was Jlianwallabagh massacre by Britishers. I am sure now in India students are more knowledgeable. I think India always kept away from Israeli-Palastinian politics. BJP will not change the policy. It is like India-Pakistan, a never ending problem. Let us hope for the best:pray:
