Synergy is required among the various scientific bodies to fuel innovation in the country!

ISRO, DAE, CSIR, etc., are already not doing anything very earth shaking; though ISRO comes in the big headlines, it is because of the low cost of launching satellites, a job which ISRO has mastered, fortuitously. All these so-called scientific organisations are deeply mired in bureaucratic meddling and scientists also craving only for promotions and perks with hardly any great scientific breakthrough to their credit. Unless Modi can radically restructure these white elephant institutions, he will not be able to do anything; cooperation among these white elephants will mean another institution with "scientists" and IAS Officers vying for higher and higher posts, perks, foreign jaunts etc., and little else.

We can be more charitable towards scientists and engineers and our space ,atomic energy and scientific labs.

They require encouragement and support with decent salaries and perks if they have to deliver results.

If politicians and bureaucrats keep away, they would be doing them a favour.

The achievements of atomic energy and space depts have been many.

We owe a lot to bhabha and sarabhai who created these set ups in fiftees and sixtees.

As per global standards we spend very little on these organisations.

When global powers denied us the relevant technologies , it is the indigeneous talents of these set ups which put india on the world map.

I agree we owe a lot to Homi Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai who were instrumental in setting up the two research institutions. But it is just pure myth that "When global powers denied us the relevant technologies , it is the indigeneous talents of these set ups which put india on the world map."I have heard insiders from both BARC and ISRO as to how our so-called scientists were only after foreign trips and the bata etc., linked to it and how many of them were very successful in spoiling our image amongst the foreign scientists. In short the "nakkitthanam" of our scientists prevented the country from getting to know the various secrets from the foreign sources.

Even the pioneering rocket launch from ISRO took years and years until the scientists sent abroad were threatened with demotion/possible removal, if they did not come back with one crucial step in the processing/preparation of the rocket and its fuel.
