I am a skeptic.
This post is all in lighter note, and is not to insult any particular godman/godwomen.

The characters in this post may not be fictitious. Any resemblance to people, living or recently dead may not be coincidental either. The videos, logs, links, images and place names indicated in this post are used just for transparency purposes but this author may not fully endorse the viewpoints in them. No patent/ idea trademarks have been applied to this post and you can feel free to implement them if you've the business acumen. Good luck.

Since there are no crash courses/ diploma/ baccalaureate programmes in any Universities offering education and training in Divinity/ Godmen enacting, I propose this draft to aid and guide wannabe Gods. About time we recognize the demand for such a course and request the help of my readers to pressurise the Unis to include this programme as a new Bachelor of Arts subject.

Prasad Ji

That was a good one . Last year, this time, I was at the Kumbh Mela.

These Babas, Gurus, Yogis, Yoginis in various costumes [ and without them ] will always
be around as long as there are these captive herds of gullible morons [ even educated ]
are around.

[ I remember writing about "Babas & Their Blacksheep ".]

In fact, this day of Maha Shivaratri was the Grand Finale of the Maha Kumbh.

I dont have problem with Godmen, as long as they are able to give something to society. Kanchi seers, Sai Baba etc have contributed much to the society. JV, Sri sri as well. But its good to be beware about all the anandas - Premananda, Ranjithananda etc :)..

Sir,

Time and again we have been reading news of atrocities committed by some of the Godmen.

Few of them really do gimmicks and gain the confidence/trust of public, make lot of money, establish ashrams and some involve in crimes too.

Last year, one of the Godman used nearly 50,000 litres precious drinking water for celebrating the festival of colours ‘Holi’ at Nagpur especially when this city was facing a worst draught.

There was another Godman, who was reported to have raped more than twenty girls in his ashram and committed murder of an Engineer also.

Yesterday, I attended a wedding of one of my relatives which was also attended by a Godwoman. She was given a VIP treatment which courtesy was not found to be extended to even blood relatives of the family.

It is happening. I think such messages should spread through-out and the innocent public should be made aware of the gimmicks of these fraudulent Godmen/Godwomen and thus avoid them falling victim.

I am not generalizing Godmen, but there are exceptions too.

Swami nityananda is back in action with tv appearances and discourses with most of his flock intact. There is no actionable case against him and quite likely all cases will be dropped. Even the karnataka governments action of derecognising schools run by him have been quashed by the court.

Not sure whether he still practices tantric rituals which led to his tv exposure by sun tv, though the real dispute was the sun tv wanted to appropriate his asram land, which was repulsed.

Ma ranjita too has taken sanyas; who knows she may go independent and create an empire.

Dear Indianassault (!)

"Ranjithananda !??! " - (tongue-in-the-cheek), Good one.

Rattle Snake-handling pentecostal pastor

Watch this video 2:53 Snake Handling preacher dies of snakebite 'Snake Salvation' Pastor Jamie Coots Dies - YouTube

ABC News Monday Feb.17, 2014

A "snake handling" pastor of a Pentecostal church in Kentucky died after being bitten by a rattlesnake while performing a weekend (15 Feb) church service.

Jamie Coots, the pastor of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus Name in Middlesboro, Ky., was handling a rattlesnake during a service when he was bitten on his right hand Saturday night. Coots went home after refusing treatment at the church. Around 8:30 PM, ambulance crew arrived at Coots' home, but his wife Linda Coots signed a form declining medical treatment, according to police. Ambulance people left around 9 p.m, and returned about an hour later to check on Coots, but he was dead from the snake bite.

The pastor's son Cody Coots said…” when it's your time to go, it's just your time to go."

It's estimated that 125 churches in the United States use poisonous snakes during services today, with many clustered in the South. These pastors believe that to "take up serpents" is a form of religious expression. In the King James Bible, Mark 16:18 says, "They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them."

Coots and his followers believe that God calls upon them to handle venomous serpents and to drink other poisons. Even if they are bitten, they will refuse medical treatment because they believe that they are worthy of God's faith, and that their fate is in God's hands.

Pastor Coots had a parishioner die in 1995 after she was bitten by a rattlesnake during one of his services and refused an anti-venom treatment. No charges were filed in Kentucky.

Despite his father's death, Cody Coots said he doesn't believe snake handling is dangerous. "It's the word of God," he said. When asked if he was taking the Bible too literally, Coots said "To me that's what God taught me to be about," he said.

There cannot be any objection to exposing and punishing frauds of any kind - godmen, politicans or industrialists. But one has to be careful in evaluating news paper reports. The media is heavily biased, has hidden agenda and sometimes sponsored by anti nationals.

Who is the godwoman well received in the wedding?

There was some discussion on asaram babu some time back. His devotees bought three tanker loads of water for celebrating holi; he did it in many places in maharashtra and gujarat. Since there was nothing illegal, and more tanker water is bought for political meetings, no action was taken by the municipal authorities. He has been kept in custody for several months without framing charges. It happened with kanchi acharya too; he was kept in custody for 90 days before filing a charge sheet. The rest is history.
