I am starting a new discussion which could well be the final thread started by myself.

Over the years I have started many discussions about the Tamil Brahmin Community. I am listing below a few of them.

http://www.tamilbrahmins.com/general-discussions/1252-unpacking-paramacharya-s-words.html

http://www.tamilbrahmins.com/general-discussions/6523-tamil-brahmins-beliefs-alienates-others.html

http://www.tamilbrahmins.com/sociology/1331-why.html

http://www.tamilbrahmins.com/philosophy-traditions/1254-how-varna-caste-system-harmed-brahmins.html

http://www.tamilbrahmins.com/general-discussions/1934-who-brahmana-birth-alone.html

http://www.tamilbrahmins.com/sociology/1791-brahmins-society.html

http://www.tamilbrahmins.com/general-discussions/1205-unity-among-brahmins.html

http://www.tamilbrahmins.com/general-discussions/1267-where-we-going.html

http://www.tamilbrahmins.com/share-your-knowledge/1743-countering-anti-brahminism-i.html

http://www.tamilbrahmins.com/share-your-knowledge/1744-countering-anti-brahminism-ii.html

http://www.tamilbrahmins.com/share-your-knowledge/1745-countering-anti-brahminism-iii.html

These discussions were only for creating an awareness among the community and stress the need for Unity.

The first thing I noticed when I came back to the forum after a long hiatus, that there has been a lot of changes in the forum.

The days when members came to the forum for finding out about their roots and historical causes of some of the problems faced by the community, is over.

It is more of a social forum now. It is also a forum for propagating the ideas of certain individuals/Acharyas. It is also a forum for finding out about rituals.

Since it has become more of a social forum, members are also more inclined to personal vilification almost without reason. This is the bane of all social forums.

This has happened to almost all the old forums and Yahoo groups. They have run out of steam.

The older members who viewed it in a different way have left making way to members who want to chit chat and socialize.

I find very few discussions of interest to me. Joining a discussion just for the heck of posting a counter view is not a productive way to spend time.

I am writing all this because you may not see me around. I do not have any illusion that my absence would be noticed.

But I do not want any one to post later claiming that I left the forum because of so and so or so and so post.

I am not leaving. Only that you may not see me often.

Thank You.

Dear Sri Nacchinarkiniyan Ji,

You and I have has history going back to your first posting.

Yes, while agreeing with you that the Forum has lost some steam, I do not agree that folks do not appreciate such postings. It is natural, in a Forum like this, longstanding members develop some sort of friendship with like minded.

I, for one, want your posts - I have learned so much. I am glad you are not leaving, but please humor me with your knowledge, which few possess. At least this much, I have the right to ask.

Regards,
KRS

Dear Nachi Ji,

I do not see any reason why you feel that Forum has become a social forum and sort of lost its "charm".

After all we have different threads to post the relevant topics.

Most of us also read quite a number of threads..we have serious discussions in some threads and also have "fun" in some threads.

That keeps the human mind in the right track the best of both worlds.

Not all us are learned in every aspect of religion and culture and by sharing our opinions we learn from each other.

Many of us lose interest for while...then log in less and then log in daily in invisible mode and finally start missing forum.

I think most members go through these phases.

But I feel Forum is more fun now cos we have a variety of threads that we all can benefit from.

true...daily new youtube/ TOI clippings...just cut and paste here......lol

We are are all musafir in TB site, we come and go. For sometime some are missed, others do not even make a mark.
One should not take themselves so seriously, that our view is the only right view. If we are open and honest I think we can be humsfer.

Kya laker aye ho, kya leker jayoge.
