As many of you may know, I work in Chemistry. Chemistry is pretty cool in a lot of ways. We look at the tiniest of things and worry and fret about how they get along in their chaotic little environments or what shape they may be in at a given time. But one thing is for certain. . . We do A LOT of stuf over and over and over again. We have to do this mainly because you gotta really look deeply at something to understand it but also because 99.9999% of the time things just dont really work quite right. . . .

I have been working on the same reaction for WEEKS NOW. It's not a super sexy and cool reaction either. If it gets published its not going to be in the news. But I have to get it right regardless. Today I was in a rush though and had to kick off the reaction before lecture so I threw in my compounds both at once and then added my solvent......

Lo and behold one of the most fantastically dramatic and beautiful things happened! The solution turn blood red the as it stirred turned a vibrant green, then clear yellow, and back to a violet purple before going clear and settling at a deep orange! I was flabbergasted and as joyous as a child! My lab mates eyes sparkled in wonder. When you understand what may be happening to create the color change the concept becomes immediately mind boggling! My coworkers were overjoyed by the display and something I had done so many time before exploded into a bright new light.

I am not quite sure if I saw god in the flask or my sparkling lab mate's joy at the display of color from nowhere but I KNOW I saw it! It felt great. I love my coworkers and I love the opportunities I get in this life. I am so blessed.

Sivayanamaha!

So where did you all see God today?

Your narration was good and I am able to visualise your joy. It reminds me of an incident (accident) in which one of my relatives working in a power transmission department in Orissa got electricuted (but survived by God's grace). His wife, on learning of the accident, in an emotional prayer, removed her mangal sutra and placed it to a photo of Goddess in their pooja room saying that it is HER (Goddess') duty to save him. Her husband was in hospital almost for two months before he was discharged. His body suffered plenty of burn marks. When I was talking to him he stated that he still remembers a "pillar like object of about 7 feet tall and two feet wide glowing like a lightning appeared before me when my body was in contact with the High Tension wire for few seconds". What is more interesting was he added ".... probably the God will look like this - as appeared before Hiranya Kasibu and Prahaladan....". What a comparison! Probably that person also saw GOD!!!!!

That god/goddess is everywhere. I know we are supposed to see it within ourselves but sometimes it is so beautiful and so much easier to recognize it outside of ourselves. Thank you for sharing your story Sri Rangachari Ji. It means a lot to me. From the way I hear it both the wife and husband entered into an intensely close darshana that most of us never receive until we finally let go and let god.

I saw My God Murugan in more than one person today.

I saw Him in the form of the electric car driver who gave

me point to point lift - right from my train compartment

to the door of the taxi waiting for us.

The other two angels were Mr. Ram and Mrs. Raji Ram who had sacrificed

their early morning luxury slumber - and waited in vain for an extra hour

since our train got delayed for specific reason!

God is everywhere-if only we can recognize Him. :hail:

Dear Sri TS Sankara Narayana Ji,

Sivayanamaha!

Indeed you are absolutely correct! But I feel Smt. Visalakshi Ramani is only making a little bit of a friendly poke at my expense by posting that :-D !!! You see I am from a place where that saying is absolutely the norm and as I am the student of Tamil and Sanskrit around here amongst many who know them well so as the local student a little ribbing seems OK :) I assure you she didnt meant to advocate Christian sayings or anything of that sort. She only meant fun :)
AMEN is the word used by Christians. Our;s is : Ohm Namashivaaya Namaha or Ohm Namo Narayanaya namaha...

When we feed poor and when they are happy we can see god in their smile. Yesterday in koteeswaran show conducted by surya, one lady named Parvathiamma participated. She became graduate after attaining 45 years and completed B.ED. also since she is running primary school. She is a real god who spends money for education for poor children. Her age is 67 and she wish to develop the school with the money earned in the show.

It takes one to recognize one.
I too see people who work tirelessly for the betterment of others, and I am humbled.
I am not evolved enough to see them as God, but they are way above my level of evolution.

after going through this page, I wish to narrate my experience with God. Few years back my family(myself, my wife, daughter and son) were in chidhambaram. although my uncle warned us not to go on that day because of Ani Thirumanjan, we did go. On gtg down from the bus, we left our belongings at a shop. on seeing lakhs of people(devotees), my children refused to go to the temple. at that time, a very normal person with his dhoty hung only upto knee came to us and asked to follow him. with all the police and crowd he took us straight to garbhagraham without any hindrance. when we tried to collect 'veeboothi', we misserably failed;immediately, from where nobody knows, that person came and took us to the gurukal and got veebotthi to us. Then he took us out of the temple and when we told him that we are on the way Madras, he stopped a bus which was going to Madras and asked us to board. we boarded the bus from behind whereas he boarded from the front. after sometime when I wanted to thank him I didnt find him; so, I asked the driver about the person. the driver astonishingly told us that no such person boarded the bus in chidhambaram. we were struck with utter confusion and my wife explained and we agreed with her that it was the Great One who helped us, blessed us, led us and what not. we saw HIM, we saw God. God help us in everyway; only thing we should do is that we should have faith on HIM

I believe what you say cos the same thing had happened to my mother once.
Once my mother decided to carry milk pot for Thaipusam in Batu Caves Malaysia and it has some 272 stairs to reach the hill top cave temple.

My mother has osteoarthritis of her knees and she was worried how will she climb up in such a crowd cos of her knee pain.

Suddenly out of nowhere an old lady with matted hair and a stick came to my mum and told her in English "dont worry follow me".
My mum followed her up the stairs and my mum felt that all the way as if there was no crowd and she didnt even feel any knee joint pain.

When my mum reached the cave temple the old lady was no where to be seen.
God knows who that old lady was..dressed in a saree with matted hair and a stick she guided my mum up for the prayer.

My father always jokes with my mum saying that Avvaiyar took her up hill.

It is interesting to note how each one "saw" God. But my question is should we "see" God or should we "realise" God?

The common man understanding of realisation is through the perception of one of the sense organs or mind or intellect or ego, is it not? So seeing "God" may probably the first or one of the steps to realise the God??

Dr Renuka, well myself and my wife too had a good experience in Lord Murugan Temple in Batu Caves, Malaysia. we were on our way to US; stayed in Kualalumper for three days. in fact, due to spondilite problem I was having giddiness; sometime I get blackout, cannt walk steadily. since we couldnt cancel the airtickets for some valid reason, we undertook the journey. On seeing 272 steps I was scared. someone absolutely unknown to us came and told us to go and assured us that nothing will happen. asked us to see up towards Lord Muruga. believe us we went up and nothing happened to us. we had a great darsan of Lord Muruga and were blessed. yes we saw God and HE blessed us. HE is great

Dear Bostonsankara,

I remembered this after reading your "I saw God today" post:

"Ice crystals form in the turbulent air with a famous blending of symmetry and chance, the special beauty of six-fold indeterminacy. As water freezes, crystals send out tips: the tips grow, their boundaries becoming unstable, and new tips shoot out from the sides. Snow flakes obey mathematical laws of surprising subtlety, and it was once impossible to predict precisely how fast a tip would grow, how narrow it would be, or how often it would branch. Generations of scientists sketched and cataloged the variegated patterns; plates and columns, crystals and poly crystals, needles and dendrites. The treatises treated crystal formation as a classification matter, for lack of a better approach.

Growth of such tips dendrites is now known as a highly non-linear unstable free boundary problem, meaning that models need to track a complex, wiggly boundary as it changes dynamically. When solidification proceeds from outside to inside, as in an ice tray in a fridge, the boundary generally remains stable and smooth, its speed controlled by the ability of the walls to draw away the heat. But when a crystal solidifies outward from an initial seed-as a snow flake does, grabbing water molecules while it falls through the moisture-laden air- the process becomes unstable. Any bit of boundary that gets out ahead of its neighbours gains an advantage in picking up new water molecules and therefore grows that much faster-the "lightning rod effect". New branches form and then subbranches".

The article proceeds to further explain how heat diffusion and surface tension play their roles in all this.

I had immense pleasure reading this as I see in all this not just God ( as you have seen) but I see him dancing, smiling, mocking at me and showing love and affection towards me which I do not know whether I deserve. After watching the crystals melt I remain deep in thought for a long time and then resign remembering the famous lines "yatha vacho nivartante, apraapya manasaa saha"

Cheers.

The pity is that Many see god and realise only after the departurer of god from us. God give us opportunities to realise him but we fail to realise him. Hence do our duty and leave it to god and god will help us if we have determination. God will help only when we have the wish and determination to achieve the wish. In all the above cases they had both and hence god came in different forms and helped them. The above old lady parvadhyamma has won Rs. 12.5 lakhs and has told surya that she will spend the amount to replace the odu tiles of the school and make it in concrete roof. She wish to upgrade the school in to a matriculation from primary. Her son has left the job in navy and has joined to deveop the school and help poor.
