Idol thefts

Not open for further replies.
Dear Sri "Sundachu",

With due respect, I wish to know the purport of this question. If you are serious, what answer you
expect to receive ? Gods certainly guard themselves otherwise no idol will be left by now.Gods reside
in the conscience of each individual to watch and guide each act of them.
If an idol is stolen, then Gods will catch the culprits through the Law of the land.
Never forget the saying:
அரசன் அன்று கொல்வான் தெய்வம் நின்று கொல்லும்

Regards,
Brahmanyan,
Bangalore.

Idols are stolen and sold. Cannot gods guard themselves?
dear sundachu !
kindly do not post this type of question just to make a new thread.do you want to out wit the non believers?

வாயில் வந்தது வார்த்தை வேறு வழியில் வந்தால் அதற்க்கு வேறு பெயர்

Murtis or vigrahas have a religious/ spiritual part and a commercial/ monetary value. The first one is replaceable by installing a new murti and consecrating it. Even though we have laws to punish the guilty who do the lifting, many a time the law breakers are the law enforcers. God has no part in it.

God is immortal and murthi/vigraghas are only representatives. For God you pray through murthi or pray without murthi is immaterial. Athmasutthi is important and Trust is more important. Ramakrishna paramahamsa has once told a story which is as follows:- Once there was a person who daily do pooja to krishna keeping an idol of krishna. For long time he was doing pooja and lord did not give him darshan. He was frustrated and removed the idol from his pooja peetam and kept it in the loft. He started praying another god. Suddenly he observed that the fragrance of udubatthi and the smell of the bakzhanmas are going towards the loft where he kept the krishna idol. Now he told krishna that you are not giving me your darshan but you want to enjoy my food and the sweet fragrance of batthi and he took one cloth and tied the same on the face of krishna. That time god krishna appeared before him and told so far you have considered me as an idol and now only you realise my presence and that is why you tied my face.

I do not think Sundachu is denigrating the believers...His post is sarcastic...Also humorous...If we cannot protect God's statues do you expect God to protect themselves

I feel that we need to protect the precious idols, artefacts and other valuables of temples which represent our hoary tradition

We have the example of Padmanabha Swamy treasures which are protected for 100's of years

We have to have people who are ethical & God fearing to run the Temple Boards/ Dewaswoms

We need to protect the temples from all types of vandalism.

We need to bring technology to Temple management

There used to be a ancient Greek slogan: God helps those who help themselves

Let us take the initiative to protect the temples before reaching out to God

God, hopefully, will reward his bhakta!

In the epic war with pulikesi by narasimha pallavan in salukya capital vatapi, pallava senapathi, paranjoti uprooted the vinayaka from the fort gate and brought the stone murti to his native town. Pulikesi was defeated and killed in the battle.

In deivathin kural, kanchi periyavar says that it is an accepted practice to steal the pillaiyar (tiruttu pillaiyar) from another temple to build a new temple.

For general reading:
"Immigration and customs authorities in New York City have seized over $20 million worth of antiques stolen from Indian temples and hawked to major U.S. museums, from a Manhattan gallery run by an Indian, Subhash Chandra Kapoor (63).Mr. Kapoor, who is currently in prison in Chennai following his arrest in Germany in October after Interpol issued a ‘Red Corner’ notice for smuggling, was also slapped with an arrest warrant by U.S. authorities for possession of stolen property.
According to a statement by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) group, agents on Thursday seized three Chola period bronzes, which were “suspected of having been stolen directly from temples in the Tamil Nadu region of India.”
These bronze statues include a sculpture, depicting Parvati, from the Chola period, valued at nearly $2.5 million; a sculpture depicting Sivagami Amman, said to also be worth over $2.5 million; and a sculpture depicting Murugan, reportedly worth over $3.5 million. All three pieces are visible on the Tamil Nadu police website and on the Interpol Stolen Works of Art Database, officials said."

I like the post except for the first line. Sarcasm does not come out in a single line comments.

God does not have to do anything. It is not a matter for the God.
Immigration and customs authorities in New York City
is not God.
I am sure Indian law enforcement also is prosecuting some idol thief.
I think Mr. Vgane's suggestions are valuable.
People have to get involved.

The phrase that sundachu used "Cannot God guard themselves";... I could understand his sarcasm...
.
In analytics we do behavior profiling based on certain parameters

In this case too based on past posts of sundachu I guessed that this was what he could have meant...Sundachu is not an atheist to make some outlandish comment

Till Sundachu himself comes on the post & explain whether the understanding was right, we can have our interpretions & have a field day
