IITs To Waive Off Fees For Differently-Abled Students

NEW DELHI -- A day after the IIT council met on Tuesday, minister for human resources Smriti Irani announced that differently-abled students will not have to pay fees at the premier institutes for higher studies. Irani is the ex-officio chairperson of the council that oversees the sixteen autonomous public institutes of higher learning in India.
"Happy to report that IIT Council has decided to waive off fees for our physically challenged students," tweeted Irani on Wednesday morning. She had earlier said that several "good decisions" had been taken at the 49th council meeting, which was held yesterday in Mumbai.
