Indian woman drags alleged sex assailant by hair to cops


A 20-year-old Indian woman dragged an alleged would-be rapist by his hair to a police station after being attacked.


Pradnya Mandhare took the dramatic action after being molested at a train station, reports the Telegraph.
The incident took place in the middle of the day at a station in the Mumbai suburb of Vile Parle.


The student's alleged drunken assailant, who the Mirror reports is Chavan Chowdee, attacked her while other people just watched and did nothing to help.


"The visibly drunk person came to me and touched me inappropriately. When I tried to avoid him, he grabbed me," said Mandhare.


"I was shocked for a couple of seconds, but then I started hitting him with my bag. He was trying

to hit me, but I could overpower him because he was stinking of alcohol and I could make out he was drunk."



As no one came to help her, Mandhare had deal with the crime herself, so she grabbed Chowdee by his hair and took him to a railway police station.


"Dragging him by the hair and walking was tough, because he was trying to escape and I was afraid he would attack me.


"He kept telling me not to drag him along and that he would not come with me on his own, but I did not let go. I finally managed to hand him over to the police."

This is todays state of affair.

We can see Heroes only in movies!!

Nobody is willing to help someone in trouble and come to some one’s risk bcos it does not end up there. Subsequently one needs run to the Police Station, Court, etc, now and then till the case is disposed of. If the case ends in conviction that is fine and unfortunately if the case ends in acquittal the victim will come out and probably his first priority will be to take revenge on the witnesses. Fearing subsequent calls from police , most general public wish to remain as silent spectators.

Every day we have been reading in news papers that grave crimes end up in acquittal for want of corroboration of witness statements, valid arguments, strong evidences, proof, etc

It is better for young girls to attend classes on martial arts like Karate, Judo, Kung Fu, etc besides, dance, music and foreign language..to cultivate enough self confidence to deal with such miscreants.

It is sad that this kind of incidences happens so frequently, and the law and order situation is worsening. Reporting of "unfortunate " event is not wrong, even if it looks bad. Just stopping publishing news item should not be the only concern. I agree with you that it shows Indian men is poor light. Let us change the behavior of men in India, not by suppressing the news.

It is very unfortunate that such untoward incidents do report often in India which ultimately show Indians in poor light. We all feel bad about this.

It is high time that we need to change the situation by taking some effective measures.

But in Tamil Nadu State, the general public have elected a Government which has promised lot of freebies and for delivering these freebies to the general public the Government certainly depends on the revenue accrued over the sales of TASMAC Products. The revenue got through TASMAC plays vital role in Tamil Nadu Budget. They started fixing target on sales and pushing the staff to achieve the target . That is one thing where the general public can do nothing

It is well known the west and its media is bent on defaming India, and any small incident will be amplified and beamed all over. They know rape and crime incidence is an order of magnitude less in India compared to USA orveurope. All cases of church attacks are portrayed as Hindu inspired, but now established that claims by bishops and seculars are without basis. We have to become like Chinese and take a strong stand on such biased behavior of american christian I interests. Will happen.
