i think piety and religiosity will always be respected. i don't think anyone has mocked, mimicked or abused brahmins for their piety.


times are changing. we have, while made great efforts, to change with the times, on many aspects of our life, we have deliberately chose to discard some others - mostly what we considered onerous rituals.


it is not for me, especially here, to weigh the merits/demerits of these decisions. it is an individual personal thing, and perceived by folks such as yourself, as a community loss. maybe it is time, we give poonals, to the willing & eager ones, from other castes. we cannot grow by shrinking.
